It is so easy to drop a hint for genocide. Once a JCO of my unit told me d importance of nvr hurting the families of terrorists as how little it will leave of the divide between an army and militia. “Yeh farak hamesha rehna chaiyye, woh Bhartiya Sena jaise mahaan Nahn ban sakte”
Another Perspective on the Army–Police Incident in Jammu & Kashmir
As discussions continue around the recent Army–Police incident in Jammu & Kashmir, it is important to consider the concerns being raised from the Army’s perspective while allowing due process and any official inquiry to establish the facts.
According to reports, the incident began when a vehicle carrying Army personnel and family members, including children, was involved in a brief delay on a narrow stretch of road while attempting to give way to the vehicle of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishtwar, Mr. Pankaj Sharma. In the difficult terrain of the region, such situations can occur and are often resolved without further incident.
However, what has generated concern among Army personnel and veterans is the manner in which the situation allegedly escalated thereafter. It has been alleged that vehicles carrying Army families were seized on the verbal directions of the DC without following established procedures. Reports further suggest that efforts to resolve the matter through dialogue at the police station were unsuccessful. Some accounts also allege that weapons were brandished and cocked during the confrontation, including in the presence of Army personnel who had arrived to assist their families. These allegations remain subject to verification.
A particularly contentious issue relates to the FIR registered following the incident. According to reports, the FIR names a Commanding Officer, a Major, and several Army personnel under multiple charges. It has been alleged that the Commanding Officer and the Major were not present at the location at the time of the incident and were, in fact, stationed elsewhere. If these claims are found to be correct, questions may naturally arise regarding the basis on which senior officers were named in the case.
Many within the Army fraternity believe that the actions allegedly taken by the DC reflected a disproportionate response to what initially appeared to be a minor traffic-related disagreement. There is a perception among some veterans and serving personnel that personal ego may have played a role in the escalation of the matter. While this remains an allegation, it is one of the central concerns being voiced by those seeking an independent inquiry.
Further allegations have also surfaced regarding the DC’s past interactions with the Army. On condition of anonymity, some individuals have claimed that approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for certain Army welfare initiatives under Operation Sadbhavana were allegedly delayed or denied on multiple occasions. Others have alleged that there has been a pattern of dismissive behaviour towards Army requests. These claims have not been independently verified and should be examined objectively before any conclusions are drawn.
The larger concern being expressed is not about the supremacy of one institution over another. Rather, it is about ensuring that the relationship between the civil administration and the Armed Forces remains one of mutual respect and cooperation.
Several questions have emerged from this episode:
What mechanisms exist to ensure that disputes involving civil authorities and military personnel are handled fairly and without bias?
Can Army personnel and their families expect adequate protection and impartial treatment when such disputes arise?
How can confidence between institutions be maintained if allegations of misuse of authority are left unaddressed?
The overwhelming majority of officers in the civil administration, police, and Armed Forces work together professionally and effectively. However, incidents such as this can create perceptions that undermine trust if they are not examined transparently.
A fair, impartial, and independent inquiry is therefore essential—not only to determine the facts of this particular case but also to ensure accountability wherever it is warranted.
In front of my son’s school, everyday fathers get their kids on bikes and scooters on the wrong side of the road in morning peak rush hour traffic. This is when there is a super wide footpath and the walk from start to end is 10 mtrs. Imagine what would these young kids imbibe.
On my way to gym daily, i come across 5 schools. Expensive ones. All of their gates are choked. No one stops their car when kids are getting down from school bus. People keep honking. (In many countries you can’t overtake in such scenario). As a father I have to send my kid to school from next year and it absolutely makes me paranoid as well seeing how these school bus drivers drive the bus and the condition of traffic around it.
Following the ongoing situation in Iran, I am convening a special Security College on Monday.
For regional security and stability, it is of the utmost importance that there is no further escalation through Iran’s unjustified attacks on partners in the region.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Lt. Heather Penney was flying training missions out of Andrews Air Force Base when the radio crackled with words that changed everything: America was under attack. By the time she landed, the Twin Towers had been struck, the Pentagon was burning just miles away, and another hijacked plane was headed straight for Washington.
She and her commanding officer were ordered back into the air immediately. There was only one problem—their F-16s were loaded for training, not combat. No live missiles. No real ammunition. The order came through her headset anyway: stop that aircraft by any means necessary.
Heather understood what that meant. If they found the plane, they would have to ram it. A deliberate collision. No ejection. No survival. Her commander said, “I’ll take the cockpit. You take the tail.” There was a pause, and then her reply: “Roger that.”
She launched into the sky, breaking the sound barrier over Washington, the shockwaves rolling across a frightened city. As she climbed, her mind raced—not with fear, but with questions no training could answer. Where do you aim? How do you make sure it ends fast? How do you accept that this is your last flight?
She searched for United Flight 93, knowing that if she found it, she would not be coming home. But she never did. Two hundred miles away, the passengers had already made their stand, and the plane went down in a Pennsylvania field.
Heather flew patrol for hours afterward, guarding a sky already saved by ordinary people who refused to be weapons. When she finally landed, her crew chief was crying. He hadn’t expected to see her again.
Neither had she.

Beating Retreat is by far one of the most beautiful military ceremony. It also has tradition attached to it. R-day gets the parade started and Beating Retreat is the send off to this parade. No wonder the opinion is “unpopular”.
The brave father of brave son.
Subedar Major Dalvir Singh, a retd JCO of 56 Armoured Regiment dons his uniform to bid his son Sowar Jobanjeet Singh of 8 Cavalry a last farewell.

#Dhurandhar is in the league of cinema/series like Fauda and Operation Finale.
#AkshayeKhanna’s portal reminds of Joker from Dark Knight (a role I have long considered impregnable) and makes me believe the movie is really notch above the rest when it comes to this genre.
@theskindoctor13 There is a famous case study of British India known as Cobra Effect. It would be interesting to see the population growth in the districts and mohallas where sterilisation is done and understand if this is incentivising dog catchers to do the right thing or not.
@amazonnow I couldn’t find a way to appreciate on the app for the DA who dlvrd items even though I had marked the wrong address. He still took the pain to come 2 kms to the right address. In times where deliveries are measured in secs, him taking the extra detour is appreciable.
Ben Stokes said “you want to make that hundred against Harry Brook?” Of the 143 overs, England mainstream bowlers bowled 121, they could not bowl another 3 and had to resort to Brook? Broke, Stokes, Crawley, Duckett..spirit of game is a two way street.
When you have batted 50 overs to save a test match, you are perfectly entitled to seek a cherished landmark. And it is good to see that everyone is in the batters' camp on this one. I have no issue with Stokes wanting to go off but I hope young Harry Brook, when he has a quiet moment to himself, will be a bit disappointed with what he did.
You are such a vermin. I have always believed in treating you as a fellow citizen but you have mastered the art of creating rift. Any action by the Govt to curtail your outreach won’t be unjustified.
Very few times do we get to write our own future. Pakistan has that opportunity today. You shall decide your fate with your actions and Indian forces will ensure that.
