@germany_iam Having spent the weekend at a conference in a hotel, I’m very grateful for the hotel staff who do work on Sundays and set out the breakfast buffet for us.
@iamkosmonaut I think I learned a lot about client interaction by watching my seniors work when I was a junior. If everyone did everything remotely that opportunity to learn by watching needs to be replaced somehow.
@germany_iam My mother was a trailing spouse. She went to VHS to learn German while we were at school, two years after the family arrived. Only restarted her professional career after Grosses Deutsches Sprachdiplom.
@40PercentGerman I was taught to schab them off a Brettchen. Although I rarely make them, I would always do them off a wooden board rather than what does look like a cheese grater
@miguel_angelia@Markercore @germany_iam @Trevor__Edwards The reason given is to prevent someone buying sufficient to kill themselves. In practice you could just go from one pharmacy to another and collect enough if you were determined

@carlfhoward And the cost of living is of course staying the same, rent isn’t increased etc, so people on MW won’t need support anymore…. There’s a reason there is something called the living wage which is higher than MW!
@carlfhoward Along those lines. Impossible to rent in Reading without topping up from benefits. If MW was higher, less benefit spend and poss. higher income tax, all funded by the private sector rather than the taxpayer.
