There's a reason the American antiwar movement of the 1960s and 70s was the most significant domestic political crisis the American empire faced in the twentieth century.

It was not just Americans feeling bad about a war.

It was Americans beginning to see the machine from the inside at the same moment the Vietnamese were dismantling it from the outside.

The Vietnamese resistance created the conditions for American soldiers to come home changed. Radicalized. Willing to testify. Willing to name names. Willing to describe, in public, in their own words, what had been done in their name with their bodies.

Vietnam Veterans Against the War.

These were not academics. Not intellectuals. Not comfortable critics.

These were the kids from the deindustrialized towns who had been handed the rifle and the story.

And they came back with something the story could not survive contact with.

Experience.

The Vietnamese resistance, by holding on, by refusing to be defeated on the timeline the empire required, gave those soldiers enough time to see.

Enough time to understand.

Enough time to come home and tell the truth.

Vietnam fought for Vietnam.

And in fighting long enough and hard enough, it gave some of the people sent to destroy it the chance to save themselves.

Exactly right. The truth is that the EU was never on the side of Ukrainians. Behind all of the fatuous sloganeering about "listening to" and "standing with" Ukrainians "as long as it takes," nobody in European capitals has ever actually given a damn about them.

Their deaths have been treated as an abstraction. The catastrophic violence that is being done to Ukrainians is not only being done by Russian military. It is also being done by the Ukrainian war state and the merciless conditionalities imposed by its sponsors in the EU, who will only accept what is clearly impossible - outright Russian defeat on the battlefield - as an end to this vile war.

Ukrainian men are literally trapped inside a nightmare by this intransigence, blocked from leaving the country, denied temporary protection by EU countries and sent back, beaten into submission on their streets and stuffed into recruitment vans by mobilisation squads, sent to be slaughtered in a horrific war that European leaders insist must continue, but would never dream of fighting in themselves.

All while the war consumes every vestige of state capacity, heaving the people of Ukraine into generational debt, converting public wealth into ruins, transferring state assets into private hands, minting a new brood of oligarchs out of the grand scale embezzlement of war funds, digging a deeper and deeper hole for the people of Ukraine, from which even if the war ended they could never climb out of.

I agree that "we" cannot keep telling Ukrainians "we" are "on their side." Nobody who has any power in Europe ever was.

Why Kiev Struck at Wildberries Warehouses

The night of July 18th. Kotovsk, Tambov region. Attack drones, equipped with explosive payloads, struck a Wildberries logistics complex, not targeting equipment, but people. Seven employees of the night shift were killed. Twenty-five were injured, with 23 hospitalized: one in critical condition, six in serious condition, and 16 with moderate injuries.

Most were shrapnel wounds. Simultaneously, an attack occurred on a Wildberries distribution center in Elektrostal, Moscow region, with a complex area of 250,000 square meters. Another 24 people were injured. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened cases under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian media outlets simultaneously reported: Wildberries is "the logistics of the occupying army," "military cargo," and a "legitimate target." True defenders, indeed. The night shift workers, with shrapnel in their lungs, are the front line according to their playbook.

Let's analyze this coldly, point by point: why are they actually attacking?

First. Disrupting the economy and destabilizing from within. The largest online marketplace in the country processes millions of orders daily, involving millions of sellers, taxes, and employment. Destroying a hub means increasing delivery times, collapsing the turnover of small and medium-sized businesses, and provoking a wave of returns and complaints.

The calculation is precisely this: to make the average person – the one waiting for a package, and the one who feeds their family with that package – start looking for culprits within the country. By the way, Wildberries revised its terms of service in early July: sellers are denied compensation for damage caused by drones – it's considered force majeure. The seller receives zero compensation and gets angry, not at Kiev, but at the marketplace, the government, and their neighbor.

Second. Psychology. A marketplace warehouse is a symbol of normal life. It's not a factory or an arsenal, but a box of sneakers and vacuum cleaners. Striking here is a way to tell the average Russian in Tambov and Elektrostal: you have no rear. That's why they used explosive payloads. The goal is not to destroy concrete, but to fill burn units and trauma centers.

Third. Image. Apocalyptic images of a black column over the Moscow region are visible for dozens of kilometers. For the Ukrainian telethon, it's a "victory"; for the Western audience, it's "Ukraine is still stinging."

Fourth. Covering up the attack with the fake claim of "military cargo." According to this logic, any package in any corner of the country becomes a "military object" – from a post office to a pharmacy. It's convenient. And there's no need to explain why explosive payloads were used to kill warehouse workers.

And the war grinding on abroad isn't just politics — it's also profit, linked hand in hand with greedy zionist colonial expansion.

War, like wildfire, like tainted lettuce, is a business line.

None of this is coincidence. It's what happens when decision-making power concentrates in the hands of unscrupulous individuals who are drive solely by self-interest, self-enrichment, and tribal supremacy; people whose loyalty is not to the public, the planet, or the future.

The billionaire class isn't a passive bystander to these crises. They're the authors of the policy environment that makes them worse, because destabilization is cheaper to cause than to prevent, and the costs land on everyone except the people making the decisions.
