@OzAmram I suppose that it will be possible to pretty much nail it down with an increased amount of pulsar data (that is: more pulsars, longer observation span) within the next decade. There has been a paper on this question a few years ago, https://t.co/mpwjU5tWkM
What if @NANOGrav didnโt detect a gravitational wave background of black hole binaries but something even more exciting? Given the latest data we should keep an open mind on other possible explanations!

We are pretty optimistic that the next data release by the @IPTA_GW combining the individual data sets to a much bigger one might already shine some more light on our interpretation of the data.

@MMylova Spectral features and anisotropies! If a single merger was detected on top of some stochastic background, this would be some direct evidence in favor of the astro explanation.
