🧵 FULL STORY: 21-Year-Old Woman “Kim” Case in South Korea

In late 2025, police in Seoul began investigating a series of incidents involving a 21-year-old woman identified by her surname Kim, after multiple men in their 20s were found unresponsive following private meetings with her.

The case would later expand into one of the country’s most closely watched criminal investigations in recent years.

According to police, the first known incident happened in mid-December 2025 in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.

Kim met a man she was personally involved with. During their meeting, she gave him a drink that contained some of her prescribed sedative medication.

The man lost consciousness but later regained it and survived. At the time, the incident was not immediately treated as a major criminal case.

In the weeks that followed, authorities say similar situations occurred.

On January 28, 2026, Kim met another man in his 20s in Seoul’s Gangbuk district. They checked into a motel together.

Police say she gave him a drink that included her medication, combined with alcohol. She left the room alone about two hours later.

The man was found the next day by staff. He had passed away.

Less than two weeks later, on February 9, 2026, another man in his 20s met Kim in the same district.

They also entered a motel together.

According to investigators, the same pattern occurred. She left the location alone, and the man was later found deceased in the room.

There were no signs of external injury in either case.

Police began connecting the incidents after reviewing motel records, surveillance video, and phone data.

They identified Kim as the last known person seen with the men.

She was arrested on February 11, 2026.

During questioning, police say she admitted to putting her prescribed sedatives into drinks given to the men.

She reportedly stated she believed it would help them rest after personal disagreements and said she did not expect the fatal outcomes.

A major turning point came during the digital forensic investigation.

Authorities examined her mobile phone and found she had searched an AI chatbot multiple times.

Police say the searches included questions about:

– Effects of mixing sedatives and alcohol
– Dosage safety levels
– Possible physical consequences

Investigators concluded these searches happened before and between the incidents.

Police stated that the amount of medication used appeared to increase over time, based on evidence collected.

Based on this, investigators determined there was sufficient indication she may have been aware of the risks involved.

Because of this conclusion, authorities applied the most serious criminal charges available under South Korean law in cases involving intentional actions leading to loss of life.

Additional charges related to bodily harm and controlled medication laws were also included.
