Nothing Blooms Here, and Yet

目が覚めたら
I woke up

まだアラームの前だった
before the alarm had even gone off

もう一度目を閉じる
I closed my eyes again

…眠れない
…Sleep wouldn't come

いつもなら
Most days

仕事より
it isn't the work itself

行く前のほうがずっと重いのに
it's the time before I leave that weighs the most

今日は胸の上に何も乗っていない
Today nothing is resting on my chest

少し早いけど起きることにした
It's a little early, but I get up

お湯をわかしているあいだに
While the water boils

窓の外が少しずつ明るくなっていく

What We Can See at Night

月のある夜は 暗いのにものが見える
On moonlit nights, we can see things even in the dark

道も 人の顔も 淡く透けるように
The path and people’s faces, as though softly translucent

昼間には何でもなかったものが
Things we would hardly notice by day

遠くから届いた光の中に浮かんでいる
Emerge in light that has travelled so far

手もとを照らすこのランプとは違う
It is different from the lamp that lights my hands

目を凝らして やっと見えるくらいなのに
Though we have to look closely to make things out

そこに道があるとわかる
We can tell there is a path

となりの人が こちらを向いたとわかる
We can tell when someone beside us turns our way

私は あの明るさを作りたい
That is the kind of light I want to make

夜の深さも 遠くの暗がりも残したまま
Leaving the depth of night and the distant shadows
