@Wizards_DnD I appreciate the apology and Kyle Brink putting a face to it but the past couple weeks have been an indicator that I need to cautiously step forward as a consumer of Wizards for the time being.
@griffons_saddle Would be interesting to see how much they lost in people quitting DND. Probably not enough to hurt their bottom line but hopefully enough to send the message. I'll still not be going back to DNDBeyond, but I'm much more (cautiously) optimistic for the TTRPG community I love.
Can you run multiple campaigns only using open source, free systems, or free versions of systems? Games like #Ironsworn, #OSRIC, #Morkborg, #BasicFantasy immediately come to mind. Or free modules from OSE, GURPS, FATE, or even D&D.
Here's a neat challenge I thought of: #FreeRPG systems in 2023. To me, the spirit of the #TTRPG hobby is getting together with friends & creating great memories; the miniatures, book collections, & extravagant terrain sets are all just window-dressing.
This is inspired by my enduring curiosity about the "Sea Peoples" from the ancient Mediterranean region (I learned about the Minoans when I visited Crete and went into a giant rabbit hole.) Looking forward to creating! Here are some of the narrative secrets I'm starting with.
I've been in a creating mood this week, then I stumbled upon @seanmccoy's #dungeon23 challenge in a Questing Beast video; talk about great timing! I've heard about it for about 3 hours and it inspired such an exciting concept for my #TTRPG homebrew already! Feedback appreciated!
@kristin__house I DMโd one of my playerโs last game with our group going up for a huge battle. He rolled four nat 20s in a row - we were all cheering and shouting and our neighbor commented on it the next morning; I found out then he used to play DND and he joined our campaign.
Still nervous but I've been seriously considering creating my own TTRPG for a while; not to make money, just to contribute some ideas back to the amazing #TTRPG community that feeds my soul... #TTRPGFamily, If you've published materials for #TTRPGs, any tips for this noob?!
@SlyFlourish Running my players through a few MoTW sessions really helped them with this; they got used to helping me build the world, vs relying on me entirely; they got ownership of our game. I can see something like Ironsworn being of great utility for this as well if you play w/o GM
@SlyFlourish Having something to do for every room! One thing I've focused on lately is ensuring there is something to do for every description/room. Before I often ripped entire dungeons out of modules but it became "PCs walk into room > hear a description> leave to find the main goal."
Mike Shea (@SlyFlourish) is a gem in the #TTRPG space and a unique value to the #dungeonsanddragons community! Thank you, Mike, for taking the time to respond to my e-mail and create a post about our discussion: https://t.co/90jg4Kj02M
Big news to share! D&D Beyond will become part of the Wizards of the Coast family! Youโll continue to have all of the tools, features and content you know and love from the heart & home of Dungeons & Dragons. More to come โ excited to join the party!
