Learning is a skill. Nobody ever taught it to you.

1. Explain it out loud to a five year old. The moment you stumble is the part you do not understand. The stumble is the diagnosis.

2. Usually the blocker is a word, not an idea. "Quantum amplitude" means the odds that something happens. The vocabulary was the wall.

3. Hang the new idea on something you know. Electricity is water in a pipe. Pressure is voltage, flow is current. Now you are remembering plumbing.

All three are the same move. Force it into plain words and the gaps show up on their own.

You are not a visual learner. Nobody is.

School sorted everyone into three boxes: visual, auditory, kinesthetic. Researchers spent decades testing whether it mattered. Sort learners by style, teach some matched and some mismatched, compare the scores. The matched groups should have won. Study after study, they did not.

Preferences are real. But preference is not power. What you enjoy and what you actually learn from are two different circles, and the overlap is small. The thing that moves the needle is the material, not the label: maps for geography, sounds for music, diagrams for anatomy. Stacking formats beats any single style.

Pick the format that fits the material, not yourself.
