Jean Hilliard was involved in a car crash in sub zero temperatures. Despite walking two miles to her friend's house, she collapsed just 15 feet away from the house.
The temperature plummeted to -22F and she was found 6 hours later. Doctors could not administer a hypodermic needle as her skin was too hard to pierce and her heart rate dropped to 12BPM.
In an effort to thaw her, they placed her in an electric blanket. Astonishingly, as she gradually warmed up, her vital signs began to improve. Later that day, she regained consciousness. Her recovery journey led to a 49-day hospital stay, and she eventually made a full recovery.
