@carlsayerUCL The lake is spring fed, it rarely foods. Naturally bunded with wide buffer strips between agricultural land. There is always potential for leaching but regular water quality analysis does not suggest this. There are mixed macrophyte species and a healthy balance of algae.
@carlsayerUCL Shading from trees planted too close to margins. Erosion of steep sided gravel banks and a whole host of other factors. Unfortunately, these gravel pits dug pre-war weren’t created with much thought for legacy. Always a struggle, but we’ve created more habit over recent years
