Went above and beyond to help one of your passengers, selflessly ignoring the trauma to herself from having to do that for someone and watching them die ON YOUR FLIGHT! Just asking for a hotel voucher and a different flight, pathetic @SouthwestAir
@SouthwestAir, terrible experience my family had with you on their most recent trip to NYC. After an inflight emergency, with my wife giving CPR to a passenger for 45+ minutes + an emergency landing, you refused to put them up in a hotel to catch a flight the next day. Pathetic!
Remember, too, that all who succeed in life get off to a bad start, and pass through many heartbreaking struggles before they "arrive". The turning point in the lives of those who succeed usually comes at some moment of crisis, through which they are introduced to their "other selves”.
Should you Have a Family Office?
You have $50M+ in liquid assets.
Your advisor says you don't need a family office.
They might be wrong.
Here's how to actually decide 🧵
Asset allocation impacts things from risk, free cashflow, and wealth generation. Determining what the appropriate allocation is for your FO should be based on a solid and well-defined investment policy with clear goals and objectives.
I have a secret to share
After your first $2–$3 million, a paid off home and a good car, there is no difference in quality of life between you and Jeff Bezos. Both of you have limited amount of time on earth; you have twice if not more than Jeff, so you are richer than him. A cheeseburger is a cheeseburger whether a billionaire eats or you do.
Money is nothing but a piece of paper or a number in your app. Real life is outdoors.
Become financially independent; that’s usually 2–3mil. Have good food. Enjoy the relations. Workout. Sleep well. Call your parents. That’s all there is to life. Greed has no end.
Repeat after me: Time is the currency of life. Money is not.
Sooner you figure this out, happier you will be.
A big advantage of Virtual Family Offices: the family gets to work with the best of the best
It often does not make sense for families to hire rock star CIOs, tax attorneys or CFOs
The volume of family office deals doesn't justify the expense
It has been estimated that 76% of family offices make 10 transactions or fewer each year
A-players don't want that
Families don't want expensive employees twiddling their thumbs
But VFOs plug into the best people when it matters, and only when it matters
It's good for the family
It's good for fractional employees
