“Their success should serve as a wake-up call: a reminder that foreign #languages have a valuable role to play in any fit-for-purpose #education system, as much for personal enrichment as for career advantage in a networked world” #MFLTwitterati
P5-7 created stories using the German vocabulary for this term. They learned to use translation apps to extend their story, & created PowerPoints which will be exported to video. Lots of skills were developed including using shortcut keys. #SDLW22#digitalliteracy@tay1plus2
You might learn a language because you like to know where words come from or because you want to understand others' points of view or do business with another country or show empathy or share in humanity or enjoy much more of our world. Languages open doors, hearts and minds.
#LangsLeadScot critical friend buddies at work this morning! Great to sort welcome emails & start drafting commentaries on first journal submissions with @Maricel13494027

The importance of learning other languages can never be underestimated… witnessed a beautiful moment, my P7’s buying their BBQ food and the Tesco cashier was deaf. They all signed thank you to him, the utter delight in his eyes will stay with me. @HC1plus2French
Why learn a language? Because there's a whole world beyond your own. Because Spanish, Arabic & French let you communicate on most continents. Because Chinese, Urdu & Swahili create exciting new perspectives. Because whatever else you're interested in, a language makes you better.
Congratulations to all the amazing teams of P6 learners who took part in the Perth and Kinross heat of #Euroquiz2022 yesterday, and in particular to winners @StDominicPS 🥇and runners up @NewhillPrimary 🥈 @PKCTeach @SEET_scotland
Your school French might lead you to Spanish or Italian, or it might inspire you to go on to Arabic or Ukrainian. You might love history, science, music, maths, art, politics or geography. A language is not one subject. It's every subject seen through another people's eyes.
