SAD THREAD: Maybe you’ve heard the news: @AtlantaCivicCircle is going under. It’s another casualty of the current, unforgiving journalism ecosystem — a loss that will leave Atlanta with, by my math, ZERO dedicated housing reporters. Let’s talk about what that means... (1/)
In sickness and in traffic: How far are Atlantans willing to drive for love? For some, the infamous Atlanta traffic is a dating deal breaker. But some singles are willing to go the distance💘

Ryan O'Hara was one of the soldiers on the helicopter that crashed with a plane in Washington, D.C.
Army colleague Josh Muehlendorf told me he worked closely with him years ago:
“Ryan, he was a standout. He was absolutely committed to discipline and excellence."

For the employees who work at Town Center mall in Kennesaw, Tuesday’s sudden closure and the lack of communication have them concerned about its future — especially after examining Kohan Retail’s track record with other malls it owns across the U.S.
The power cutoff was a visible sign all is not well with the Town Center’s finances. The mall’s owner is also behind on its property taxes, and other malls the company owns have reportedly encountered financial issues.

As a reporter, I cover tough stories regularly. But this one has stuck with me like no other.
A family was killed weeks before Christmas. A baby, a young girl with Autism, their mother and grandmother, all shot by the grandmother's boyfriend, who killed himself, police say.

The kids' father said for him, it's “world-ending.”
“My mother, my children, the mother of my children — everything is gone.”
His sister, the kids' aunt, found them in their apartment. Colorful Christmas lights still hung in the window, shining out into the parking lot.

I loved meeting Koda the Weimaraner when she came to the mall to get pictures with Santa Claus for her family's Christmas card! Will you be bringing your pets to meet Santa? @ajc
