The Campaign for Mass General was largest ever fundraising campaign for a standalone academic medical center. We were honored to be a part of it, and we are thrilled to have contributed over $1M to the funding that lead to one of the biggest breakthroughs in the history of brain tumor research.

It was great to meet the patients that have received the treatment that ASFL has helped bring to life. We were honored to be featured in the program’s video, and are excited to share that video when it is available.

Sports dominate the social media pages and the Google News results of A Shot For Life. However, we are a cancer research organization that uses sports, not the other way around. We are proud of everyone, alumni and current players, that wear the ASFL logo and play their sport for someone that is battling cancer. We could not be more excited by the progress being achieved at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Center, and we are excited to continue to elevate our support level in the years ahead 💙 #ASFL

14 years ago today A Shot For Life was born when founder Mike Slonina became the first person in basketball history to shoot for 24 hours straight from all over the floor, shooting 73.2%. $17,000 was raised for the @MGHCancerCenter, and the story was picked up nationally by ESPN, Yahoo, and The NY Times. Since then, thousands of athletes across New England have put on an ASFL jersey for one of our 8 sports and they have fundraised for cancer research, they have raised millions of dollars and they have helped fund one of the biggest breakthroughs in the history of brain tumor research. We want to offer our most sincere appreciation for the entire ASFL community, and we’re excited to announce what will come next. Keep an eye out towards the end of 2025 for an exciting announcement that will call back to our first, record setting event 💙 #ASFL
