Update from the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center: The preliminary hearing for singer D4vd, charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernande, will officially begin on July 21st after numerous delays. @conlin_lauren
CELESTE RIVAS HERNANDEZ MURDER CASE UPDATE🚨 The preliminary hearing in the D4vd case has been pushed back once again. Thank you to our eyes and ears @TaylorParise
At a hearing this morning, the court granted a defense request to continue the matter after reviewing a sealed declaration and finding good cause for the delay. The preliminary hearing is now set for July 21 as a "go date," with defense counsel indicating they will accommodate witness schedules.
Before the hearing began, attorneys were called into the judge's chambers. When the judge took the bench around 8:40 a.m., she appeared exasperated and remarked, “What a morning!”
D4vd was brought into court at approximately 8:54 a.m. He appeared clean-shaven, smiled and nodded at the judge before taking his seat, and briefly conferred with counsel.
The judge also apologized for a last-minute courtroom change caused by a maintenance issue around 8:25 a.m. The court referenced an on-the-record but sealed chambers discussion before granting the continuance. Prosecutors requested an additional status hearing ahead of the preliminary hearing, and the court ultimately set that hearing for July 7.
The mood in the courtroom was noticeably different: Both sides appeared serious, but relaxed, and the overall atmosphere felt far less tense than in previous appearances.
Singer D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow for a status conference ahead of his June 29 preliminary hearing. These types of hearings (tomorrow's) are typically used to address discovery issues, scheduling matters, and ensure both sides remain on track to proceed with the preliminary hearing as planned. It starts at 8:30 a.m PST.
Burke has pleaded not guilty to charges including first-degree murder, lewd acts with a child under the age of 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. @LAmag will report back with any significant developments...
🚨 D4VD LOOKED “BORED” IN COURT… THEN CAME THE WINK 🚨
One of the biggest takeaways from inside today’s courtroom?
Reporters say David Burke appeared incredibly calm… almost bored… and even winked at defense attorney Blair Berk.
We had #BestGuest & courtroom insider @TaylorParise on Surviving the Survivor tonight — and she gave us the full breakdown of what happened inside that courtroom.

More info on D4vd coming soon: @TaylorParise saw Burke WINK at his attorney, Blair Berk, upon leaving the courtroom. Before the June 29 preliminary hearing, there will be a June 17 status conference. They expect the prelim to last 5-6 days.
Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman told the court prosecutors have already turned over more than 10 terabytes of discovery material, including iCloud data, forensic evidence, lab reports, LAPD reports, photographs, arrest records and extensive video evidence. Silverman said prosecutors are continuing to upload evidence through the https://t.co/H6RkuAp8DR platform and noted the overall discovery could exceed 40 terabytes. Silverman wants to ensure, however, the June 29 date does not get pushed back again.
“It’s hard to argue what you don’t know yet,” Berk said, adding that while there are still discovery concerns, including outstanding DNA evidence, she believes many of the issues can likely be resolved informally without court intervention at this time. @LAmag
The Dv4d case will not continue into a preliminary hearing on May 26. The hearing has been postponed to June 29 due to the volume of evidence still being looked over by both D4vd’s defense and the prosecution. A status hearing will be held on June 17. @conlin_lauren
Beth Silverman with the prosecution said: “We want to make sure we are not doing this over and over... It holds us hostage.” If a third date is set, she wants to ensure it is a “go date.”

What did D4vd look like? Per @TaylorParise:
David entered, this time, clean shaven. Still shackled, in prison garb, legs outstretched and crossed. At times leaning to his left side casually to rest on that arm rest, very casual. Taylor noted he looked VERY young when clean shaven....
