The thing about Meryl Streep that a lot of people don’t seem to notice is that she almost never does sequels. She’s built her entire career on standalone performances, not franchises. She’s never really come as a new character in an existing sequel either. Even in Mamma Mia Here We Go Again, her role was so minimal it barely counts as a true return.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is such a big deal, this is the first time she’s actually reprising one of her most iconic roles as a leading presence. This better have a good script if they can bring her back
