I genuinely wanted to check in on @T_Cloud4 Tash shared her thoughts on current events, and as always, she’s been a powerful advocate for the people - both in words and in action. I appreciate how she’s never afraid to set basketball aside for things that are bigger than the game.
The power will always belong to the people!
Confirmed today: ICE is taking unhoused people who are unable to produce documents from the street to fulfill their quotas. People too poor to have any documentation on them, unable to prove where they come from.
A human rights disaster in the process.

I saw this coming from a mile away and I blame the fascist gestapo but also the city governments who to this day throw away belongings like IDs, passports, and birth certificates week after week.
This isn’t the national guard or marines. This is LAPD - under the control of @MayorOfLA.
Media will try to pin this on the Feds and Trump but the reality is this is local police led by a Democratic mayor:
Hey friends I got accepted into Law School this fall and I started a GoFundMe to raise money.

Some happy news:
Community members have fundraised enough money to keep 30 LA street vendors home for a month. Rent, food, bills paid so they don't have to risk getting kidnapped + go outside and sell.
So proud of my community.
If you'd like to support the effort:
yes! I work at the intersection of immigration and disability law, here are some resources (and a thread):
first, an article on how federal disability law can protect asylum seekers and other immigrants: - ICE is beholden to the ADA & Section 504 https://t.co/En8oQIFcMg

This is what fascism looks like. Plain and simple. It is not "allowed" in the United States of America, but this is the part where we learn that laws don't mean shit during an authoritarian takeover.
@Imani_Barbarin DRI has proven that "people with disabilities detained in institutions are likely to experience torture and other human rights violations" and has a guide here on how to prepare and navigate ICE detention with legal help.

Ameer and her twin boys are facing a tough time right now. They need help to secure housing to get back on their feet. Please consider donating & sharing their story. Every little bit counts. https://t.co/FRcdcWqQ1J
