#YNWMellyRetrial: @YNWMelly ex-girlfriend, Mariah Hamilton, filed an Emergency Motion For Hearing with the Broward Clerk on Tuesday (March 4). Hamilton and attorney, Christopher Beres, seeks a court order to correct the record and remove barriers to employment caused by a wrongful classification of her arrest.
According to the motion, Hamilton’s arrest record incorrectly labels her as a “fugitive from justice,” preventing her from passing a background check and regaining employment.
The court confirmed on February 7, 2025, that she was not charged with any crime. After her release on February 8, 2025, her former employer required documentation of charges, but none exist.
Hamilton requests the court to officially clarify her arrest status and confirm that she was ordered to wear a GPS monitor as a witness under Florida law.
YNW Melly’s next appearance in court, with Judge Martin S. Fein presiding, is April 1.

#YNWMellyTrial2: Since surrendering to the @browardsheriff in February 2019, @YNWMelly has had no visitation or communication with anyone outside of his legal team and authorities -- who have now been ordered to have zero communication with Melly -- in 3 out of 5 years he has been detained in Broward County Jail/Paul Reid Detention Facility.
I reached out to Shelley Koski-Shaffer, MS, LPCC, CCTP (@shelleykoski), a 30-year experienced retired Department of Corrections therapist, about the long-term or irreparable possibilities of what this type of isolation can have on a detained individual's mental health.
Via text, Shaffer references Melly's past mention of having multiple personalities (i.e. Melvin and Marcus). She writes, "I go back to his claim of having many personalities. Even without any pre-existing mental health issues, there’s microscopic chances he will come out of this without any long-term/permanent damage."
After the comment, Shaffer shared the following 2018 @PsychScience article about the lack of human contact.
"It’s an old study that would never be allowed to be replicated with today’s standards, but it’s pretty consistent with what we see with long-term isolation ... especially since Melly’s brain hadn’t fully yet developed when he was first arrested," said Shaffer.
Melly's mother, Jamie King (@ynw_jamie), has voiced concerns about her son's mental health while detained based on the treatment on social media for years.
