I've been convinced this is one of the most important nonprofits globally for fighting the trifecta of climate change, habitat loss, and pandemic risk.
Dr. John Morse was recently the subject of a short film "Caddisfly", directed by Olivia Lund Johnson. After a stint on the film festival circuit, it is now available for public viewing (account sign-up required): https://t.co/zTneFhgCtE
It's a lovely story. Please enjoy!

@Bertonemyia @Thrips_iD@OhBuggers thanks! also not in my ID book...time for me to broaden my resources :) this is my first time running a legume trial so there have been lots of new insects to learn
@Thrips_iD @Bertonemyia @OhBuggers
Here is another one :)
Live specimens looked like six-spotted thrips at first, except with heavier pigmentation of the spots (becoming more like 3 lines). but pronotal setae do not look nearly long enough. any idea?
@Thrips_iD@OhBuggers thank you Manfred! it looks like that genus is not listed in the ID book i was using (Palmer, Mound, and du Heaume) which would partly explain why i couldnt get there :)
I am coming across (and trying to learn!) some new thrips species. Thrips people, does this look like Heliothrips spp. or am I way off? @Thrips_iD@OhBuggers
@Bertonemyia @Thrips_iD@OhBuggers i knew i forgot to tag someone! :)
unfortunately no. All i can recall is it was at least partially dark. it was from snap bean flowers. nearly all the thrips we see are Frankliniella but occasionally a few unknown dark species show up.
