One of my favorite things to do with my 5th graders are Math Data Chats. Today we discussed their fall benchmark results, strengths, weaknesses, short term goals, long term goals, and what they will do to reach their goals. ๐๐โค๏ธ
Today our focus was what does group work look like in math class. After the activity the students shared- communicating, effort, listening, on task, sharing, patience, encouragement, teamwork, thinking, understanding, getting along, helping, engaged, strategizing, trust, & respect.
Congratulations to Jacob Page, an upcoming sophomore at @BradleyCentral & Harrison Yost, an upcoming 7th grader at @OcoeeMiddle1 for being the students of the month! Each got a gift from Town Squire and $250 donated to their schools in their honor!
My mantra: Get Ss to love math & think theyโre good at it & they WILL be! No one wants to do something they hate! In #BuildingThinkingClassrooms, the goal is not finding engaging tasks but building ENGAGED students willing to THINK about ANY task. #developingpositivedispositions
