I want to support the “bus only” lanes on the east-west streets in Chicago from downtown. But, they are the worst for traffic. To see those empty lanes during rush hour, I’m not surprise at the number of drivers who illegally hop on over there. But, not me, though.

I became a scholar to answer questions important to marginalized groups/communities and empower them by sharing that information. So many scholars publish for the sake of status without ever making an attempt to answer questions that uplift humanity.

As a result, scholars like me are often compelled to focus on publishing and presenting in scholarly venues only and penalized for any work not deemed "worth my time if I want to excel in academia" by individuals who could not care less about the topics that I am investigating.
