Our government deserves our cooperation when battling a common enemy. It does not deserve cooperation if the problem is Congress not doing its job. That’s where we are.
The economy is crashing and people are getting sick and dying because you 2 hard dicks think your agendas are bigger than the health and future of the American people. They are not. There is no perfect deal. TIME IS OUR ENEMY. Get this done today !
BOTH OF YOU NEED TO DO YOUR FUCKING JOB! @SenSchumer, stop kissing progressive ass. We can't solve every problem in this deal🍑 @JohnCornyn , stop kissing big corporate ass. They don't need buybacks or exec bonuses. They have no choice but to take any deal they can get. 🍑
99.9% of the time I oppose any increase tax proposal... this is literally the .1% time that it makes sense to add tax to future high earners or there will b no opportunity to one day b a high earner.
Get $$ in peoples hands today. Let businesses shut down (even if open - they ain’t surviving) and pay for this w/ some fica type payroll tax on folks making a lot of money. Tax goes away when paid back. There’s a solution for ya.
There is only way we we are going to get money into the hands of small businesses immediately so they can retain employees , pay them and pay ALL their bills and that’s for the treasury to guarantee all overdrafts. Let SMB write checks as they always have, but they won’t bounce
⏰ THREAD:
1/ The US economy is imploding. That’s the message of the plunging stock market and rising jobless claims. And Washington is not doing nearly enough to stop it. Forecasts of a deep recession followed by a strong recovery are too optimistic. Here’s why:
Bridge loans v. equity v. handouts. I would prefer the latter. No small business i know wants a loan to stay in business but not open for business. Impractical. .
Here’s the problem - the average small business is barely making ends meet in normal times. Cut off 2-3 months of revenue and they are in a DEEP hole. Then when the business reopens the hole remains. Plus it takes a while to get fully revved up again. Many will never recover.
