@TelfordHistoric@Gynephila@BlauewGerrit@ZoomerHistorian The regions of Flanders and Wallonia, are the product of Belgian federalism.
Flemish and Walloon identities meant very different things, but still Walloon history belongs 100% to either the Netherlands or Germany in the case of Liรจge.
@Gynephila@flextazyy@TelfordHistoric@BlauewGerrit@ZoomerHistorian The separatism, that is the shift from a class conflict (Flemish localism vs the bourgeois Belgian state) of pre-WW1, to an "ethnic" conflict ("Flemish" vs "Walloons") was mostly engineered by the Flamenpolitik of German occupation.
@ZoomerHistorian The idea that "walloons" oppressed the "flemish" is such a joke especially when you see Belgium today... Belgium is also not more an artificial creation than any other country. That myth has to die.
@3BostonBoys@QuetzalPhoenix Walloons were among the best engineers in Europe in the middle age and created Swedish and Spanish industries, let alone being the center of the Frankish empire, so not sure what you mean by that.
@DylanALTKY@LapisLazAlter What do you have against wallonia to repeat flemish BS propaganda (unless you're flemish)?
Wallonia was richer because of industrial revolution not because it was "sucking flanders dry" which it didn't
@BartoszzWarszaw@Fra_Eternelle@EuropeElects To save it from political catastrophe. Walloons voted the right wing party but surprise they turned out to be flemish cocksuckers (they just cut all financing to wallonia to give it to the flemish-led military for ukraine). Unfortunately there is no alternative.
@MannerdDesert7@lefineder It makes zero sense, I can give you hundred of studies that shows that graph above is a complete lie. Walloons are more germanic than the French and similar to the Flemish.
