STARLINK SET TO ENTER TANZANIA

Tesla billionaire Elon Musk's internet service provider, Starlink, is set to enter Tanzania after filing a formal license application and being shortlisted by the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).

#Starlink remained optimistic about launching its operations in Tanzania despite significant regulatory hurdles.

#ElonMusk previously revealed that the service's introduction had been delayed due to challenges in obtaining the necessary permissions.

TCRA recently released a public notice listing Starlink Satellite Tanzania Limited among companies applying for licenses under the converged licensing framework. The authority has set a 14-day window before making its final decision.

Protracted talks between Starlink and the Tanzanian government centered on spectrum rights and compliance with data protection regulations. These discussions were crucial in aligning the service with local requirements.

Starlink, owned by SpaceX, entered the East African market last year, with Kenya and Rwanda already benefiting from its high-speed internet services provided via the world's most powerful satellites.
