There’s a lot to confirm why try and fill in the gaps. A rip would be a very plausible explanation for that number. Wash on top of a rip certainly would not help.

@Richard37247328 @BirdSeedBigot Why does it matter? You haven’t really explained, other than you believe one or both statements to be false. regardless of the semantics of the police statement regarding pier jumping I don’t see how it’s relevant it clearly was not the cause of death and injury.

I think all they are attempting to say (albeit not brilliantly) is that jumping in the water was not a direct cause of the incident. Why does it need to be anything other than that?

@Richard37247328 @BirdSeedBigot Kids were in water. Vessel sailed too close abd inside designated recreation area. Created wash. Young people got in to difficulty as a result and sadly drowned. Captain arrrested. Standard practice. That’s the full story. Not sure what else it is you’re looking for.

The kids are saying the accident was not a result of a direct incident with a boat which it wasn’t both statements are true. I’m sure.

@Richard37247328 @BirdSeedBigot As far as the police are concerned all victims were already in water so jumping from pier was not necessarily known abd not a factor in the incident. So no conflict here, just different statements but both accurate. What is it you’re looking for?

@Richard37247328 @BirdSeedBigot Still not complicated in terms of the arrest. Clearly captain of a vessel being investigated. How they got in the water not relevant. How they came to harm is. Hence captain arrest for being deemed too close to designated recreational area. That is simple.

@Richard37247328 100% boats by law are required to keep a safe distance from designated swimming areas off the beach. Wash has led to injury and death equals captain arrested. Standard practice. This was pretty obvious without this footage. Investigation of whether wash was factor.
