Flowers are nice, but every mother deserves easy access to reproductive and maternal care, universal paid leave, affordable child care and anything else they need to raise happy, healthy babies.
F#%£ Flowers! This Mother’s Day I want reproductive freedom, paid family leave, universal early childhood education, universal school lunches, sensible gun control … What else did I miss, ladies?
“The state of maternal health in the United States is abysmal,” said Dr. Rebekah Gee, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Louisiana. “In the developed world, Louisiana has the worst outcomes for women having babies.” https://t.co/QHGssXhQay
Forced birth in a country with:
—No universal healthcare
—No universal childcare
—No paid family & medical leave
—One of the highest rates of maternal mortality among rich nations
This isn't about "life." It's about control.
Follow up on this old tweet: Just got $114,000 of student loans forgiven!!! It’s a relief - truly - and I am grateful to those who advocated on the behalf of overburdened families like ours - we clawed our way out of generational poverty & our education was key.
I phoned banked for 8 hrs in 2020 - 1st time getting involved in “politics”. Today I am so grateful to have a path out of my crippling 20 yr saga of student loan debt. I want anyone reading this to hear me: YOUR VOTE MATTERS. GET INVOLVED! #studentloanforgiveness#BidenDelivers
After years of high rates, maternal deaths spiked in the U.S. during the pandemic, far exceeding rates in other developed nations.

During the Obama-Biden administration, we put tough requirements on banks like Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank—including the Dodd-Frank Law to make sure the crisis we saw in 2008 would not happen again.
The last administration rolled back some of these requirements.
Want to give the amazing flight crew on @SouthwestAir 1583 IND/AUS a shout out. Kind, helpful and patient - thank you!!! Made this stressed mom’s flight a bit better. :)
Just realized that my marriage is protected under this act! Although it’s a good thing, it’s also scary to realize that there are people in power who believe my marriage is wrong and so needs protection at the federal level.
Today, I signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law.
We are reaffirming a fundamental truth: Love is love, and Americans should have the right to marry the person they love.

What we learned from COVID? That oil is worthless in a society without consumption. That healthcare has to be public because health is public. That 50% of jobs can be done from home while the other 50% deserve more than they're being paid. That we live in a society not an economy

Please support local news. Journalists need to be able to report on city council meetings, school board elections, & local politics. Water, gas, electricity, education, road repair, police, hospitals, jobs, garbage, real estate taxes, & schools. National news cannot cover it all.

President Biden isn’t “canceling” debt, he’s shifting it onto everyone, including the majority of Americans who chose not to get a degree. This will make inflation worse, and we should focus on getting more value out of colleges rather than giving them a reason to hike prices.
This week women are living in an America where they have fewer rights than last week. You may be asking, “what next?” The answer must be more Democratic senators so we can codify Roe. Democratic governors. Winning state legislatures. We need to win these seats to change the laws.
