Obsession, to me, is a loud condemnation of fakeness and inauthenticity. How the fear of being genuine and “cringe” alongside the unwillingness to see people as they are vs. how you feel about them can make you a much, much worse person. I do hope more people talk about that.

I think what really sets this movie in the ethos of 2020s young people movie is capturing how people are more worried about being perceived as shitty or exploitative but not actually making the jump to be a genuinely better person and the self awareness of this act.
