@GarethWheeler The ramp up in demand for content doesn't match the increase of source verification. Moise/Davies may both realise and disclose they aren't ready for Bosnia. But Marsch wants to excersize his right to weigh progress against the tournament run and choosing replacement as late as p
@BenSteiner00 I'm surprised not a canPl team. I'm sure the league would have allowed a reschedule for a Supra, Halifax or Ottawa just to accommodate the CanMNT.
@JoshuaRey00 I suspect the Swiss did their homework and will deploy a hybrid low block. But they might be trading off exposing Canada's defense to maintain numbers behind the ball. Game will be won at the midfield - Canada looks strong there. Bosnia Qatar though might grind, which might cost
@CoajUnlimited I think Caldwell called it, team needs to slow down the final play in the box. His rushing a final shot after accelerating is an issue easy to correct. Let's hope he adjusts before his next minutes. I bet you phonsy or Ahmed are chomping at the bit to get that much space.
@GarethWheeler I bought stock in your David a 9 argument. But, his underperformance as a 10 is only against low block teams, hoping to win from counters. Even if he is a 9, teams will still low block like in Serie A. We might be better served him at 9.5/10 keeping Can on the front foot
@GarethWheeler Didn't Qatar win the Asian cup twice since the last world cup?
That's a tournament with South Korea, Japan, Iran & Australia. I get the expectation, but the team has to have absurd chemistry and treating it like a walk in the park knowing they might low block, a #CanMNT achillis
And even though that wasn't a good strat in the last world cup, Canada really did not underperform. since then under Marsch, can was pressing the accelerator in all games against all teams. It's healthy to see teams choose to low block... Canadians... The most they get is a draw.
#CanMNT twitter still worried about the low block teams, and think the 9/10 positions are responsible for the underperformance. Yet, Canada doesn't lose to these teams unless Shaff gets a red - so changing tactic is too risky (I'd load the mid, March likes loading the box late) +
The alternative... According to twitter... Is to put promise up front and play like Ireland. Defend and counter. #CanMNT did this throughout 2022 qualifying to great effect but then started to believe in the world cup only to realize they have no experience thin mid/fast wing
@CanMNTonly The 'low block neutralizes David' is the world's most well known strategy by now. With that, David still draws out two men, but Millar (burning shots) and Tajon (burning crosses) aren't able to work with the extra runway.
@WizinhoJr Team is not set up for long balls in the box for the big target man. You are asking for overloaded counters all day... You need to walk the ball into the box, Larin and David are your strongest options. Wingers need to accept that, pulling it back to David or finding Larin.
@BenSteiner00 Montreal bowing out of the world cup is a shame. Constantly on their flag poles proclaiming it's a better city than Toronto, having lots to offer incl. French first language culture in a world wide tournament. A France, Haiti, Senegal, Algeria. Morocco... Ect. would be welcome
@VinceByDemand@AlexGangueRuzic You and me both. Hutchinson was going God mode defensively which was a waste of his talent. But, I don't think the 4-4-2 is in vein, it merely doesn't work on teams who put 10 in the box behind the ball. For Switzerland, 4-4-2 track meet, with staqs to trigger
@GCM1979 This would cement priso in the team. I don't hate it. But, Cornelius needs to start to get in game shape. Mobito also should be attempted to see if he can go 60. Anything less than 60 would certainly affect their role in the tournament
