Very happy to say I defended my thesis, after 6 years of graduate school! Looking back, I am grateful for the great program I got to be in, and everyone I met that made graduate school so memorable. Looking forward to the next steps and what the future holds.
The Class of 2023 shared names of faculty and staff that positively impacted their education. To the UIowa Neuroscience Graduate Program faculty and program students on this list⦠Thank you for supporting our students!

Are you @winter_brain? Want to hear about neural circuits and stress responses (behavior AND HPA AND autonomic)? Come see me at my poster today 3:30-4:30 or at the special session 7:30-9:30. We can talk stress and the brain!
#WCBR2023
After a day exploring Salt Lake City, ready for the Winter Conference on Brain Research in Snowbird! Looking forward to great science in the coming day.

@TheMacAran I am on track to defend after 6 years and this is actually about average for my neuroscience program and the other students in my lab. Everyone's path is different and the important thing is what you have gained from that time!
@CAndrewFrank That's awesome! My PR in high school was 25.30. Only managed it once but the fact I still remember says how happy I was. She should be proud!
@RadleyLab latest publication in PNAS! Work by Shane Johnson provides evidence for a prefrontal projection in rats that has stress buffering effects on endocrine and behavioral coping stress responses. Great work done by all.

My thesis research expands on these experiments and I'm excited to share those results in the future. Keep an eye out for my publication for more on this story!
Check out this piece about @RadleyLab's newest pub in PNAS! We examine a prefrontal to midbrain circuit in rats and show it's necessary for active coping behaviors. Activity in this pathway has broad stress-buffering effects!

@nett_kelle @lex_zim@Thorlabs They know when it's needed. Thor elves deliver the snacks at night to all scientists who are struggling with trouble shooting.
