#OnThisDay in 1831, Andrew Jackson Jr. married Sarah Yorke after meeting only a short time prior. Although Jackson expressed some surprise when Andrew Jr. announced the engagement just a month earlier, he welcomed Sarah into the family and treated her as a daughter.

We are lucky to have several talented historic costumers on staff @7thpresident. Andrea is crafting a new 1837 day dress for our costume collection. Like women of Jackson's time, our interpreters alter their summer dresses by adding detachable sleeves and heavy undergarments.
