I was able to attend a talk at @japanhouseldn on Friday by Koyama Shuko. She Kindly guided us through a changing Tokyo from early 版画 ukiyo-e hanga prints in the 1800s to present day “self expression” or 新版画 shin-hanga prints. Many thanks to @Japanfoundation
Saw these lovely traditional patterns at @V_and_A. Interesting how the cloth was so valuable then due to it’s construction technique. Many clothes had a patchwork technique as makers would stitch together what scraps they had. Lovely how the colours come together, though!
Attended Lesley Downing's lecture hosted by the Japan Society yesterday. She spoke about courtesans and strong women in Japanese history. A warrior that stood out was Tomoe Gozen - she is pictured here in the illustration on horseback with a long handled sword!
Beautiful visit to the Aga Khan Cantre in London last weekend as a part of Open House @OpenCity_UK. Refreshing take on garden design and inspiring art by Rasheed Araeen and Karl Schlamminger throughout! Most appreciate of the tour : )
A few snapshots from @AASchool Projects Review earlier this summer. Always a delight and inspiration to visit this exhibition - many beautiful, insightful and thought provoking works.
Catch up post, though it was great to visit Zaha Hadid Architects as a part of @LFArchitecture in June. We study Hadid's work in Year 8 lessons so it was very insightful to see how the ZHA studio works. Keen now to learn more on the materials and robotic-aided manufacturing.
With #Astrogazers on our trip to UCL's Mullard Space Science Laboratory in the last weeks of school. Neat to see research for our CubeSat here in real life! Very grateful to Anna Parsec-Wallis for arranging the itinerary & all at MSSL who kindly shared their time and knowledge.
Just a FEW snaps from the final exhibition we had at the end of the school year. It's always inspiring and humbling to see all the creativity, work and quality final outcomes that the GCSE and A-level students achieve.
Some making photos from the A-level 3D Design final exam earlier in the month. Can't show too much, though do look forward to the exhibition in June. Really warming to see the sincere high-quality outcomes these students have achieved ^_^
Enjoyed viewing the Tropical Modernism architecture exhibit at the V&A Museum @V_and_A recently - unique and intriguing thinking points on Modernist design as well as design's role in a crossroads of colonialism and a country's identity.
Attended a motivational talk by my colleague Arabi Karteepan @akarteepan at Croydon Astronomical Society @CroydonAS this week. Inspired for the next mission in Astrogazers! 🌌
Some favourites from the Myths to Manga exhibit at the @young_vam V&A museum. Liked the double-decker horse and carriage and check out that detail in the sea creature :)
