@StephenESachs 1. I grew up in New Braunfels, TX, 14 miles from Seguin. 2. Peter Hay's Conflict of Laws exam at Emory Law was, by far, the hardest exam I've ever taken in my life, and the A- I'm proudest of in law school. Happy grading!

@Alex_DiPrima You might want to check out John Witte, Jr. and Thomas C. Arthur, "The Three Uses of the Law: A Protestant Source of the Purposes of Criminal Punishment," 10 J. of Law and Rel. no. 2 (1993). Might not be what you're looking for, but it will have an interesting historical take.

@AndrewBrandt What counts for "suitable work"? A similar HC position or an assistant coach position? Contract theory, I think, would say that mitigation means the same level of position (HC to HC).
