A4 Our monthly Community Coffee has done a lot to improve communication with our Ps & give them a space to share ideas, questions & concerns.
Better communication = more positive culture.

A2 I empower them by letting them take on leadership roles. If they come to me with an idea, I say, "Wow. I love it. How can you make it happen? How can I support you?" Our #ClimateStrike on Friday was an example of S initiative & leadership.

A2 In my ELA class, I teach a mini-lesson, then set up a series of activity choices for Ss. One S shared their word of the day & then takes over running the class. They learn leadership skills and I'm free to conference with Ss.

@MrsRackleyCCMS I agree. I used to say "no" to ideas, simply because I felt like it would add more work than I can handle. "No" was so damaging - Ts & Ss would stop sharing. Now, I let them take the leadership role & run with their ideas. Win/win.

So agree - it takes time. Unfortunately, it can be quickly lost with a misstep. We have to work hard at building it and then equally hard on not losing it, especially when stress is high.
