The saying used to be “you can lead a horse to water” but with online school it's more like you can show a black screen with the word “horse” written on it a picture of water, and then email them a map.

See you in 2021
Student trying to access the homework assigned in the online textbook. I walk through the login, they are all like “yeah madame I know all that, i’m looking at the assignments, but how do I DO them?” I say “click on the one you want to do?” kid response “oh!! Ok thanks!” 5/5
Made a 'page' titled "Zoom link". We use the same link for every class. Week three... Still getting emails from students asking what the zoom for today’s class is, and/or where to find it. 4/5
Student was confused how to figure out the answers for the assignment. I told them they were modeled in the video. Student then asks is I am going to tell them. I say "no, it's in the video, you have to watch the video". Then "oooohhhhhh!!!!" 3/5
student comes to zoom, says "hey what work am I missing" Student shares screen with me and I point out that there are little Red "minus" signs next to the work missing. Student thought that meant the work was done. 2/5
I’ve never cried when a judge or politician passed away. Yet tonight I find myself weeping for the loss of someone I truly believe has improved the state of the country I love so much. Rest in love RBG. Your loss is felt. Deeply and profoundly.
Laugh of the day: Doing my grading and got this as a canvas submission: “message sent. I'm just typing things so my Canvas doesn't say missing assignments.” Ummm.... that’s not really the point?
Week two teaching online realization: If you are feeling lost and overwhelmed, imagine how your students are feeling! Slow down. Less really is more. It will be ok if the pacing isn't what you are used to.
