Thankyou to the childcare educators and teachers for supporting our students during these testing times. Also shoutout to the frontline workers for doing a great job!! #MusicFromTheHomeFront#HomeFront
@ashleysafranko4 What a great initiative! I think students would gain so much information from the elderly and its good to see that students wouldn't be relying on technology and potential false information provided from unauthorised sites. Thanks for sharing.
@ashleysafranko4 Its great to see this sort of information presented in this form. We definitely need take these numbers into consideration when we begin our teaching journey to help us cater for diverse learners including those who are from other cultures. Thanks for sharing.
@ashleysafranko4@literacytoday Thanks for sharing this interesting article. I think its important for students to connect emotionally with their learning, especially when it comes to cultural diversity. I feel this would help students become more culturally aware.
@ashleysafranko4 I think it is important for students to form a bond in a classroom, because in some cases the friends you go through school with become your best friends for life. Something as simple as a high five in the classroom could help break the ice between students.
@HerrickLucy It’s great to see that other pre-service teachers were in the same boat as me. It has been a great tool to help us collaborate with each other, and I am thankful for all the information that has been shared to me from me fellow educators.
@HerrickLucy 2/2 Although, this is a little bit different to your topic, when I was on prac the students had a funny character called whizzy the water droplet come to the school and speak to the students about water safety. The students love it and were thoroughly engaged!
@HerrickLucy 1/2 An excursion is a really good idea, especially to a location that has a strong connection to #sustainability such as Summerhill Waste Management Centre. I also believe that an incursion is often more affordable for schools/students/families.
@Emma12686461 I think its important to celebrate every multicultural day where possible. Even right down to something like "Bastille Day". We had a parent in our OOSH centre this morning as if we could celebrate this day and showcase some french culture to the children.
In order to save the bees, we know that we can make a difference by creating a bee friendly garden, avoid using harmful pesticides and advocate in the community. What ways can students work with the community to create a community based project? #savethebees#sustainability
@HerrickLucy This is a really detailed list of some great ideas that can be implemented in the class. Students could really get a take home message when learning about the production and disposal process for an item and can share that information with their families and friends.
@HerrickLucy Thanks for sharing this Lucy! What a cute little book with some great visuals. I also agree with the idea of completing some of the projects presented in the book with recycled objects!
Whilst teaching, learning and reflecting about the important role bees play towards #sustainability and looking at ways we can #savethebees, I decided to replicate a project students could do in the community, in my own backyard. Im doing my bit to help save the bees 🐝 #UoNTeach
@Raywyn2 @FuturesLearning Great find Raywyn! I think its integral for students to be equipped with skills from the 21st century learning framework, as so much we do on a daily basis utilises some of the skills under this framework. E.g. collaborating, critical thinking and solving real world problems.
@siobhanjoyana I’m quite sure we were only told if someone was aggressive and not nice to a student from a different culture. Nothing was pretaught to us before hand
@HerrickLucy Wow what a cool website! So many great resources that could be used in the classroom! I love how the activities encourage students to use their critical thinking skills. Thanks for sharing!
