When I started this research I knew I wanted to focus on bees, but I had no idea what projects I could do! Now I can't pick between them! Flowering lawns, gardens, bee houses and creating videos to encourage the community to help #savethebees. Which would you do? #UoNTeach
@Blaese18 Twitter definitely increased my understanding of the use of the social media world for professional development. I love how easy it is to find relevant information using hashtags!
@Blaese18 It's so good to hear that you have been learning about local Aboriginal culture. It is so important to include local knowledge in our lessons! I also hope to integrate this into my unit of work
Throughout developing my unit of work I have learnt about Sustainable Futures. However, through my use of twitter I have also learnt about other global perspectives such as Identity and Cultural Diversity which I would like to include in my unit of work. #UoNTeach
@LyddiardThomas@Twitter I have found the same thing. I had my doubts when I signed up for an account, but using different hashtags is a great way to engage with peers and professionals in your field of interest. #UoNTeach
@LyddiardThomas Lots of handy resources on here I could use in my unit of work. I especially liked this case study I found on the website https://t.co/yUX1DTWCCl
Thanks for sharing Thomas!
@LyddiardThomas What a great initiative - and an excellent business opportunity. Thanks for sharing! These are the kinds of products we should be using to help reduce the need for additional plastic products.
@LyddiardThomas@Seabin_project It's unfortunate that we need things like this to be designed, but this looks very useful. Perhaps we could get students designing products like this in Science and Technology?
@LyddiardThomas I had no idea either! I'll have to keep an eye out for the green froggy, it's good to know there is a way to support our recycling industry.
@GeorgiaDohert10 After doing research for this unit of work I have learnt how I can integrate #sustainability into Science, Maths, Literacy and Geography! For example, by creating a garden you could look at the probability of seeds growing into full plants and turn this into a fun math project.
@Reace_Louise I couldn't agree more. Including community-based projects is a great way to give students context for their learning. Such a great benefit for students and the community.
@Reace_Louise It's such a great way to give students connected and relevant learning! I can't wait to implement this approach in my classroom in the future.
Reflecting on my research for this unit of work, I have learnt lots about #21stcenturylearning through twitter and great article such as the one below.
What have you learnt about 21st century learning this semester? #UoNTeach

@Christo52918550 I have found lots of easy things you can do to address this issue with students, such as bee friendly gardens, flowering lawns, building bee houses or simply getting a local volunteer group such as the Hunter Valley Amateur Bee Keepers to do an incursion with the students.
Since joining twitter I have been able to find resources like this to create fun and engaging community-based learning. I have found using hashtags such as #savethebees and #UoNTeach has allowed me to connect with many peers and professionals.

Place-based curriculum development incorporates community assets and gets students involved in outdoor learning in local sites (Dolan, 2015). It is of great benefit to students and the local community.

@cass_shanahan I agree @cass_shanahan, the hashtags make it so easy to find useful information and resources. I can see myself using twitter to connect with professionals throughout my teaching career.
