🦍Science shows that seeing your favorite team or fighter lose lowers Testosterone & spikes Cortisol
Many studies consistently show that testosterone tends to drop and cortisol rises when fans see their favorite sports team or player lose.
This is because of our evolutionary past as a polygamous warring species, where men of the same village would team up and raid their rivals' villages in order to capture their women and resources.
If the raid was unsuccessful, the brain evolved to reduce testosterone in the men who conducted the raid, but also in the men (from the raiding tribe) who didn't participate in the raid, in order to reduce risk-taking behavior, confidence, and sex drive.
If the raid was successful, the opposite would happen; Testosterone , dopamine, and androgen receptors in the brain would increase, leading to an increase in confidence, sex drive, risk-taking, and the "winner effect" (making the raiding party more willing to repeat the raid again in the future, this time against other villages).
The exact same mechanism has been observed over and over in chimpanzees.
In short, it is fascinating how despite living in the modern world, our DNA, brains, and neurobiologies are still extremely tribal and animalistic, and only have one goal in mind -- to increase status for the sake of future cheek-clapping.

studies show that testosterone literally makes men prefer status-boosting brands over other brands, even if the quality of the product isn’t higher.
This is right in line with the evolutionary biology of sexual behavior , since women evolved to be attracted to polygamous, high status men who possess “biologically honest” signals of dominance .

Remember that in life, it's not always about where your "power level" (or status level) is NOW, it is about where it is now relative to how low you started. So if 10/10 is the max level a person can achieve, I don't care about the guy who is 10/10 but started at 8/10. Another scientific study shows that women are more sexually attracted to war heroes (braver men) than regular war veterans.
In short, since men evolved to fight for access to sex, women also evolved to be sexually attracted to men who display signs of higher bravery and higher fighting ability, even if you account for other factors.
