One of the most important parts of my conversation with Senator Chris Coons today focused on healthcare access in Delaware and the future of St. Francis Hospital.
At United Medical ACO, we help coordinate care for more than 117,000 Delawareans, and we see firsthand how critical community-based healthcare providers are to our state.
A healthcare system where one nonprofit hospital network generates over a billion dollars in profit while another community hospital struggles to survive raises serious questions about access, sustainability, and accountability.
St. Francis Hospital serves thousands of Delaware families and remains an essential part of our healthcare infrastructure. Its success should matter to all of us.
Thank you to Senator Coons for recognizing the importance of preserving healthcare access and supporting the organizations that continue serving our communities every day.

Had an important conversation today with Senator Chris Coons on UnitedTV discussing U.S.–Türkiye relations, NATO, Middle East stability, Syria, regional diplomacy, and the growing importance of strategic partnerships during turbulent global times.
One thing remains clear: Türkiye continues to play a critical role in regional stability, diplomacy, energy transit, and global security.
Appreciated Senator Coons recognizing Türkiye’s strategic importance within NATO and the broader region.
Strong dialogue and mutual understanding matter now more than ever.

Bengü Kantekin’in YouTube kanalında gerçekleştirdiğimiz bu yayında ele aldığımız başlıklar

“Supporting Stability Beyond Healthcare”
Proud to serve as Chair of the @ywcade Resilience Fund Committee and to support an initiative that delivers real, immediate impact in our community.
YWCA Delaware’s Resilience Fund provides critical, timely support to individuals and families facing hardship, helping with essentials such as housing, counseling, and basic needs during times of crisis. These challenges are often closer to home than many realize, and the impact of timely support can be life-changing.
In healthcare, we tend to focus on clinical outcomes. But the reality is clear: stability outside the clinic, at home and in everyday life, plays a defining role in overall health. This is where initiatives like the Resilience Fund step in and make a meaningful difference.
I encourage you to learn more and consider supporting this important effort:

Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Walk for Paws on April 25 is more than an event, it reflects the kind of community we choose to build. When people come together around a shared purpose, systems of care and accountability follow.
I’m proud to support this work as part of the organization. If you value structure that protects the most vulnerable, this is worth showing up for.

A thoughtful conversation grounded in policy, structure, and the kind of accountability our systems require to function.

Visited Senator @LisaBRochester in her office last Tuesday.
A reminder that relationships, not headlines, drive how systems actually function. Accountability still depends on consistent engagement behind the scenes.

Healthcare Doesn’t Reform Itself—It Must Be Forced to Change
A powerful and candid conversation with Senator Bryan Townsend underscored a reality many avoid: healthcare systems do not correct themselves when incentives are misaligned.
Senate Bill 1 represents a necessary shift—moving from a system that rewards high-cost interventions to one that invests in keeping people healthy upfront.
Real accountability requires structure, and structure must reinforce prevention, not just treatment.

At United Medical ACO, we are reminded every day that behind every system, every outcome, and every patient story is a physician who chose this path of service.
On National Doctors’ Day, we recognize our providers and all physicians whose commitment, sacrifice, and sense of responsibility continue to hold healthcare together, even in the most demanding environments. The work is not easy, but it matters—and it endures because of you.

When the White Coat Becomes a Political Prop:
I recently saw a message encouraging physicians and advanced practice providers to wear their white coats, pause clinical work, and attend a rally at Legislative Hall to oppose Senate Bill 1.
Let’s pause for a moment.
The white coat is not a costume.
It is a symbol of patient trust, professionalism, and commitment to care.
Patients see that coat and believe one thing above all else:
that their physician is focused on their health and their well-being.
Turning that symbol into a prop for organized political demonstrations protecting institutional financial interests crosses an important line.
Healthcare policy debates are legitimate. Physicians absolutely have the right to express their views.
But asking clinicians to step away from patient care and show up in uniform to advocate for hospital financial positions raises serious questions.
Delaware already has one of the most expensive healthcare systems in the United States.
At the same time:
• Independent primary care practices are disappearing
• Preventive care remains underfunded
• Patients and employers continue to face rising costs
That imbalance is exactly why the conversation around Senate Bill 1 is happening.
This debate should be driven by facts, transparency, and the long-term sustainability of healthcare, not organized political theater.
The white coat should represent patients. Not politics.
United Medical ACO supports Senate Bill 1.
This week on UnitedTV Live, I had the privilege of speaking with Delaware State Representative Krista Griffith, and it turned out to be one of the most powerful conversations we’ve hosted.
Representative @griffith4del’s path to public service is deeply personal. After her son was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2015, she experienced firsthand the realities families face when navigating complex healthcare systems. That experience helped shape her mission in public office: making systems work better for families, patients, and vulnerable communities.
During our discussion, we explored several critical issues shaping Delaware today:
• Protecting Children and Vulnerable Residents – Representative Griffith shared how her work in the legislature focuses on strengthening protections for children, survivors of abuse, and families navigating difficult circumstances.
• Family Justice Centers – One of her proudest achievements is helping establish Delaware’s Family Justice Center, a coordinated “one-stop” model where survivors of domestic violence and child abuse can access housing support, legal services, childcare, and advocacy in one place.
• Healthcare Access & Prior Authorization Reform – We discussed the barriers patients face when insurance requirements delay necessary treatment and why reforming prior authorization processes is essential to improving patient care.
• AI and Data Privacy – Representative Griffith also highlighted Delaware’s Personal Data Privacy Act and the work of the state’s Artificial Intelligence Commission, addressing how policymakers must protect personal data while preparing for the rapid growth of AI.
This conversation was not just about policy—it was about leadership shaped by real life experience. Representative Griffith has taken personal adversity and turned it into meaningful public service that is impacting thousands of families across Delaware.
Leaders like her remind us that public service, at its best, is about turning compassion into action.
