One Love for life.....Women behind all his success, True Love of the ๐
Dear Novak Djokovic,
As the dust settles and the disappointment fades, I hope you will have a smile on your face when you realize what youโve accomplished in Australia.
For starters, you made a Grand Slam final a few months shy of 39. Youโre in uncharted territory and doing things not many thought was possible in the modern game of tennis. You also managed to beat Jannik Sinner to get there - a 24-year-old at the absolute peak of his powers who many thought was untouchable on this court. In fact, most didnโt give you a chance. Yet you proved them all wrong. And not for the first time in your career. And you didnโt just beat Sinner, you fought like a lion over 4 hours against someone who should have every physical advantage over you at this stage of your career. We saw that same fighter we saw since you first burst onto the scene. Age has taken away your physical tools, but your fighting spirit is something age can never take away. You are still that same fighter we all know and love.
None of what you accomplished in Australia is erased or forgotten just because you didnโt win the trophy. Your legend has only grown. Youโve only added to your legacy, not diminished it.
More importantly than any title, every time you step onto a court, win or lose, you give joy and happiness to millions and inspire us in so many different ways.
When you eventually leave tennis, there will be a massive void in all of our lives โ a void that can never be filled by anyone else. You will never be replaced.
When the sadness diminishes and you have time to reflect and think about everything youโve done, I hope you will see yourself as a winner in Australia. I hope you will realize how much people love you and how much joy and happiness youโve given to us all. And I hope all of these are reasons for you to want to continue your career and keep on fighting. Because thatโs who you are.
Your fan forever,
Danny
"God knows what happens tomorrow, let alone in 6 months or 12 months. It has been a great ride. I love you guys."
Novak Djokovic after what could be his last time at the Australian Open โค๏ธ
Much gratitude for Djokovic: that semifinal vs Sinner and today's first set were magnificent. Fighting the dying of the light with all the dignity and defiance.
Taking nothing away from @carlosalcaraz , the level of tennis @DjokerNole played at the us open was nothing short of breathtaking. A year younger Djoko - or even a day younger - and the result could have been very different. The second set truly could have gone either way. The scoreline doesnโt do justice to the Herculean effort and magical tennis he brought to the court. From a hardcore Rafa fanโฆ hats off, Djoko. ๐
