Church used to be where everyone joined the choir. Now it’s a praise team. People used to feel free to testify about the good things of God. Now that’s not in our plans. People used to be faithful to every service; now they only come Sunday morning.

People packed the altar to pray and cry out to God; now it is empty. Preachers used to read, study, and pray for the message. Many today search the internet and learn how to deliver someone else’s.

Church music was part of worship. Now it is so loud it has become the focal point. Churches used to pray for God to send a pastor. Now it is a beauty contest: we know him and he would fit in nicely, caring little whether he meets biblical qualifications. The Holy Ghost used to lead the services. Now emotions lead the church.

Let us seek the old paths and walk in them again. Churches need to be Christ-centered and follow the leadership of the Holy Ghost.
