Japan's biggest problem is its ageing population and the fact youth tend to gravitate towards the cities, so farming for tea production gets doubly hit.
Glad to see some innovation from the young 'uns (44yo!) coming through.

Lots of people getting erm salty at the Michelle Francl book, which I will probably buy because I love diversity and science.
Standard article with slight outrage here:

Lovely TV segment on @HarneyTea. I don't drink a lot of blended tea but I agree that Hot Cinnamon Spice is one of the better picks from this brand. (The other is Paris.)

This tea-drinking video makes very good points about how tea appreciation forces you to slow down... but it's ironic that the video has been sped up to accommodate short attention spans.

When I first started getting interested in tea, I signed up to every tea newsletter from every interesting brand I could find. Now, some years later, I can tell you 99% are crap. All sales, no good content hook. I'm unsubscribing from most of them now.
Sorry @abchobart, it's a myth that you can remove caffeine from tea with a first short steep. It takes several minutes to remove any significant amount of caffeine and by that time the next steep of your tea would be tasteless.

Maybe this cost-of-living hike is getting to me but I used to love high tea but now I can't fathom paying $99 for some bits and bobs on a tiered stand and what is usually substandard tea.
