Also from an RP/ Class Fantasy perspective, Hero Talents suck.
Why is an Orc Hunter now a Dark Ranger / Sentinel?
Why is a Troll "Elune's Chosen"?
How are non-Dwarves Mountain Thanes?
Why does anyone OTHER THAN BELVES have Access to Sunfury?
It makes no sense.
I was talking about this with some friends and the idea is that Blizz denied themselves the freedom to blast out cool, simple classes every expansion in the same way 14 does, which would maybe make the game feel more dynamic with something new to play more regularly
Hot take: Blizzard fucked up with hero talents because now making new classes is going to be tons of extra work and so less likely
Hotter take: Legion’s move to spec identity was a mistake because now we can’t get cool single-fantasy classes like Spellbreaker or whatever else
while trying to give the players the feeling of rising up against injustice through the cosmic forces story that is too disconnected from the things that truly matter to most players
I think this explains well why the current story of the Titans being bad makes me roll my eyes. The dissonance of the story at home being about keeping status quo to the point the world feels stagnant,
@Typerighting Respect authority, do not rock the boat, systems cannot and should not be reformed - but bad apples might be rooted out. Every leader must be put upon, every hero reluctant. The sort of story where the end result is the protagonist becomes a cop or something.
Another thing that's groan worthy and bog standard about WoW's writing is it's approach to ambition. If you want anything more than what you have you will be corrupted, villainized and be slain, every time.
They love boring reactionary 'heroes' and we never get a proactive one.
So like we are two patches into this expansion. Lor'themar hasn't done anything. No signs of Thrall, Geya'rah Kiro, Baine,Mayla, Ji, and Lillian. Then you have Rokhan, Zappy Boy, and Talanji for pretty much just a cameo for the Troll stuff in 12.0.7.
