If you believe in building strong and sustainable institutions, don’t underestimate the value of researchers who are obsessed with credible data and evidence.

Research is not Google searches, AI summaries, opinion pieces or repeating claims because they sound convincing. When leadership asks for research, it is a privilege and a responsibility that must be approached with patience, humility and seriousness.

Imagine making a major claim about the economy based on an opinion article that cites a report, only to discover that the report itself relies on another opinion article in the Business Day (@BDliveSA) rather than official data. That is how weak evidence gets recycled until it starts sounding like fact. It is also how organisations and leaders end up being misled.

I encourage all researchers to familiarise themselves with the work of Statistics South Africa (@StatsSA). Their officials are always professional, helpful and willing to assist those who genuinely want to understand the data. There is a reason we invite Stats SA to @EFFSouthAfrica Plenums every year.

I just read the 70 page manifesto of @Action4SA , I was so close to being deceived, I nearly shared my vote with them.

On page 28-29, it reads “Action SA will repeal BBBEE and replace with it with an inclusive EE framework that focuses on equality of opportunity rather than compliance-driven racial outcomes”

So for starters, I don’t think @Action4SA knows what BBBEE is and secondly, I don’t think they are well informed on the inequalities in the country.

On your left is Police National Commissioner General Masemola, accused of flimsy PFMA charges and appeared in court yesterday

On your left , is Hangwani Maumela, Cyril Ramaphosa’s nephew accused of serious criminal offenses of which some led to the death of whistle-blower Babita Deokaran, who exposed corruption at Thembisa Hospital where Hangwani was making a fortune through tenders. He hasn't appeared before any court to date .

We must put it out there that we are not scared of criminals. They might have killed Babita, but we will not be silenced by criminals, and they have declared war against us citizens.
