🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting after a 22-year-old who runs into BURNING BUILDINGS as a volunteer firefighter was told he isn't qualified to be a paid firefighter...

...because he was HOMESCHOOLED.

Then the city changed the job posting to cover it up.

His name is Andrew Coates. He's 22 years old, in Nebraska.

Right now, today, he runs into burning buildings as a volunteer firefighter for Cedar Bluffs Fire. He is a state-licensed EMT.

He is doing the job. For free.

All he wanted was to get PAID to do it. In his words: "Make a career out of it would be the goal. To get paid to do what you love."

So he applied to the Fremont Fire Department.

And in April, the city rejected him. Why?

Because his high school diploma says he was homeschooled.

That's it. That's the whole disqualification.

Not his EMT license.
Not his fitness.
Not his record.
Not his experience pulling people out of fires ALREADY!!

...how he was educated.

The job posting he applied to said "graduation from high school."

That's all it said.
He graduated high school.
He has a diploma.

And AFTER they rejected him, the city went back and added the word "accredited" to the job description.

His own fire chief, the man who has watched Andrew work, showed up to defend him:

"I feel the city of Fremont is really missing out here, and in my mind, because of his homeschooling, you guys are discriminating against him."

Over THIRTY homeschool families showed up to stand behind this kid.

And the Civil Service Commission? They said it isn't their job to touch city policy.

Homeschoolers are literally a generation of kids who read ABOVE grade level, who work with their HANDS, who volunteer in their communities, who show up for their neighbors.

And this young man is the proof.

At 22, he's a certified EMT and a volunteer firefighter, while plenty of his peers are on a couch.

When your house is on fire at 3 a.m., I promise you will not ask the man dragging your children out where he went to high school.

You will not ask if his diploma was accredited.

You will thank GOD he came.

Andrew isn't even fighting for himself anymore. His words:

"I think now it's turned into we want to make sure that every homeschooler has an equal opportunity."

That's a better man than the policy that rejected him.

Fremont, you have a licensed EMT and an active firefighter begging to serve your city. And you turned him down over paperwork, then rewrote the paperwork to cover it.

What’s happening with China’s economy?

I don’t know.

I don’t think anyone does.

Economies are complex systems, too big and dynamically predictable to understand.

But something is definitely happening.

I think that China is being scared.

Scared to spend money.

Scared to go out and eat, drink, and be merry.

Scared to make love, to live life.

With its manufacturing (atoms, not bits) China probably has the most AI-resistant economy in the world.

And things are getting cheaper every year.

Salaries are rising in most places while food is less.

It feels like the country and its people has worked itself into a psychological funk that it cannot break itself out of.

Fred Kummerow told America in 1957 that the fat in margarine was turning up in the arteries of the dead. The government acted on it in 2015. He was 100.

He was a biochemist at the University of Illinois, and what he had done was simple and slightly grim. He got hold of tissue from people who had died of heart disease and looked at what their arteries were made of. They were full of trans fats, a kind of fat that barely exists in nature and came, in 1957, from one place: the hydrogenated vegetable shortening and margarine the country had just been told to eat in place of butter.

He published it in Science. He was 43.

What followed was a career spent being ignored by experts. The oil industry had friends on every committee. His funding grew thin. In 1968 he talked a panel of the American Heart Association into warning about trans fats, and the warning was pulped and reprinted without it after the shortening makers saw a draft.

Kummerow kept working. He kept his laboratory into his nineties. And he kept eating, quite deliberately and in front of journalists, the diet he had been told would kill him. Eggs cooked in butter. Whole milk. Red meat. He had looked inside the arteries himself and he had not found breakfast in there.

In 2009, aged 94, he filed a formal petition asking the Food and Drug Administration to ban artificial trans fats. The law gave the agency 180 days to answer. Four years later it had not, so in 2013, at 98, he sued the United States government.

Three months after that the FDA announced it agreed with him. The ban was confirmed in 2015. The gap between his paper and the decision was 58 years, which is longer than most of the people who ate the margarine got.

He died in 2017, at 102.

And he spent those last years on a second warning, which has been received exactly as the first one was. The problem, he said, was never the cholesterol in the egg. It is the vegetable oil in the fryer, heated and reheated until it oxidises, and then eaten.

On the record so far, that one is due to be acted upon in about 2070.

In 1929 a doctor at the Mayo Foundation published his treatment for heart failure, kidney disease, high blood pressure and tuberculosis. It was raw milk, and nothing else.

His name was J. E. Crewe and he had been doing it for 15 years.

The patient went to bed. A small glass of raw milk every half hour, all day, building to five quarts or more. No other food. No drugs. Weeks of it.

He reported swollen hearts shrinking, dropsy draining away, blood pressure falling, and tubercular patients putting on weight for the first time in years.

He was not a crank on the fringe. The milk cure had been standard practice in the sanatoriums of Germany, Russia and Switzerland for a century, and Hippocrates had prescribed milk for consumption 2,300 years before that.

Crewe was specific on one point. It had to be raw. Heated milk did not work.

He also explained why the treatment never caught on with his colleagues. It was so simple that it did not interest them. There was nothing in it to prescribe.

Within a generation the milk was being cooked by law. The cure stopped working, and medicine concluded that the cure had been quackery all along.
