Happy New Year To All!
Strive to be the best version of your self this year. One foot in front of the next.
Find a way to continually MOVE FORWARD towards your goals/ambitions!

@ChrisMartinLSU Yep completely understand and agree! Just depends on what time of the year and how much the peripheral soreness can affect the next week!
@ChrisMartinLSU Can let the lifting phase help determine deload
Higher intensity? Sometimes deload with higher volume is the answer
Higher volume? Sometimes hitting the higher intensity during deload helps

Strength Coaches...
Are there coaches that you find yourself listening to and rereading multiple times and learning new things?
For me, it is the late, great Charles Poliquin
I wish I would have gotten to meet him and learn from him personally.
Who is it for you?
As a coach, I think it is crucial to tie in mental tools with physical training and development
Both sides can create understanding and development in the other
Lay the foundation in both... and you have created a better human for the rest of their life
When training young athletes, the best tools are often simple.. this is true across all sports
Building a solid foundation requires all of the basics
Along with physical development, developing the mindset helps set the foundation as well
The term "Functional Movement" is used a lot in training
Sometimes it is used to justify a movement that looks fancy without enhancing a physical quality
OR
Provide a reason as to why you shouldn't do "x"
Most movements used is the right context are "functional"
Use Wisely
S&C Wisdom: Be a very good generalist
In a world of people who specialize in certain realms of sports performance, learn and practice as much as you can in every adaptation
Athletes are built on a solid foundation of multiple qualities
Don’t box yourself into 1 aspect
For me, it’s developing any kind of work capacity in anything
Chasing the big numbers and load monitoring are great
But if your athlete doesn’t have the work capacity to meet the demands of sport (both work and recovery wise), those numbers may not be as useful as you think
