Tweeted this before but I'm so excited that I'm tweeting it again: Houston is doubling the amount of land where developers can build without parking, expanding the zone into EaDo and Midtown https://t.co/glx8fF18q1
Overton window shift alert: San Mateo’s planning staff now include a slide about HAA requirements in their presentations to PlanCom. End result: approval of 150 units of housing in the last few weeks. Big ups to @YIMBY_Law and @Scott_Wiener!
🎉 AB 2923 passed! 🎉
More homes will be coming to BART stations if @JerryBrownGov signs the bill!
Thank you to everyone who wrote or called their state Senator.
🚨🚨🚨 The League of Cities is directing local electeds to call their state Senator in opposition to AB 2923, the bill to permit homes on BART-owned land. Please call in support! https://t.co/zF9oU6KdFg
Glad to see @SierraClubCA release statement today strongly supporting infill development and higher housing densities---look forward to seeing this play out in SF, Berkeley etc, @kimmaicutler,@SFyimby, @BayCity_Beacon, @eb4everyone, @MattRegan10
Wait, what?
“BART Director Debora Allen, who represents Concord and surrounding communities, opposes the bill. Allen says if BART – as the landowner – can sidestep local density rules, it can make a lot more money.”
Bart director ... opposes the bill ... bc it make Bart richer.
This x100.
Cities should also repeal rules that make it difficult to provide housing affordable to low-income people. Chopping up large units into smaller ones was a big source of low-income housing historically that's impossible to do in many places today.
No more docked bikes for you. No more dockless bikes for you. No more scooters for you. Just cars, cars, **CARS** and **PARKING** in one of America’s densest cities at a time when the state is setting higher and higher temperature records. https://t.co/aVMN1FiNlm
Free Market Urbanist Twitter: "Housing prices in Houston are cheaper because they don't have the byzantine zoning laws of San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York."
Houston:
Are you organizing YIMBY stuff anywhere in the world?
Please help us point at you! Especially of late, we get tons of folks reaching out, trying to find local YIMBY orgs, and we want to bridge the gap!
(Plus, join the Statewide YIMBY Organizer Summit!)
