Receipts in Mail, PDFs in WhatsApp, files in Downloads—I kept losing track.
So I’m building Dockly to bring them together. The tricky part? Making the Share Extension and OCR work smoothly.
What frustration inspired your app?
I kept forgetting whether I’d saved a receipt in Mail, WhatsApp, or Downloads. Finding one file meant checking three apps.
That frustration pushed me to build a document app.
One receipt in Mail. A PDF in WhatsApp. Another file lost in Downloads. I was tired of hunting for my own paperwork 😅
So I started building Dockly for iOS. Turning an everyday frustration into an app feels pretty good!
What problem got you building?
My receipts lived in Mail, WhatsApp, and Downloads. Finding one meant checking all three.
That pushed me to build a document app. My scope rule: make saving and retrieving a file work first. Extra features can wait.
Next: test whether others share the pain.

So I’m building Dockly for iOS. One small fix this week: the Share Extension now says “Sent” instead of “Saved,” because importing finishes in the main app.
Tiny wording change, clearer UX.

Building an iPhone PDF organizer. Research so far: WhatsApp has doc search, scanner apps already do OCR, and bill apps handle reminders.
My bet: the edge is saving from any app in one tap. What am I missing?
App idea check: PDFs from WhatsApp, Mail, or anywhere get lost. An iPhone app could name, sort, and search them.
The PDF category is crowded. How would you validate demand before writing any code?
