🚨 Rooney on Barcelona delaying on Marcus Rashford deal:
“If I’m Marcus, honestly, I’d find the whole situation disrespectful. And a little embarrassing too. Because you cannot convince me a club is almost ready to throw close to €100M at Gordon but suddenly starts calculating pennies when it comes to Rashford. That alone already tells you where their real priority is.
From the outside looking in, it doesn’t even feel like they’re trying to make him feel important. And for a player of Rashford’s level and profile, that matters. Personally, for my dignity, I don’t care how big the club is, I’d either go back to Manchester United and force my way back into the team…or move somewhere else where I’m genuinely wanted immediately.
Because imagine scoring an incredible free kick against Real Madrid and the club still doesn’t react with: ‘Yeah, pay United now before somebody else moves first.’ That should tell you everything. At some point players also need to protect their own pride.”
Leverage the Startup Act, building on our mature FinTech capacities, we would be able to control our 'Digital Economy' and Intellectual Property. These opportunities already exist and we have 4 unicorns to show. Let's not continue to curse the darkness w/o shining the light. 2/2
It's the same trick the world keep falling for at the hands of American robber barons: "Adopt this technology quickly and uncritically or else you will be left behind! Do it NOW!!!!"
Meanwhile your access to the technology being promoted is owned and controlled by them, such that once you adopt it and become dependent on it, they control you. That's how Nigerians banks stampeded themselves into all manner of "Digital Banking" without having the infrastructure to actually host it.
Now all your mobile banking apps are hosted on AWS and the US government can basically turn off most of Nigeria's electronic financial system if it ever decides to.
You keep giving away your sovereignty to gringos in the name of "adopting disruptive technology" and "staying up to date with trends" and it never occurs to you to wonder why the same people who will NEVER help you build a bridge or a hospital to improve your life are so eager to give you access to their "groundbreaking technology" - often for "free".
Whenever all of you wake up sha.
If you ever wake up.
This post can be viewed from the perspective of looking at the glass half-full or half-empty. Yours is looking at the glass half-empty. Let's look at it half full. Imagine we fully implement the NDPA 2023. Build out Tier 4 data centers, de-bottleneck PaaS & SaaS, 1/2

At the highest level of football, there are certain things you cannot fluke.
Glasner won the Europa League with Frankfurt, this was a time big teams use to drop from UCL into Europa, so he had to face teams like Barcelona on the way. Still, he won the Europa.
He came to Palace, with a small budget compared to the other English teams, he won the FA Cup, the first trophy in Palace’s history, he beat Man City to win it. You can’t fluke that, he’s a winner.
He qualified them to Europa by winning the FA Cup , but they dropped to Conference league because of the multi-club ownership saga with Textor. Despite the setback, he has just won an European trophy for a South London club.
In 2 years, he has changed a club’s history and won 3 trophies for them if we add the community shield. He did this while losing big players, lost his captain January, lost his best player to Arsenal in summer, lost Olise.
This guy is a winner.
Nigeria Unveils Multi-Agency Alliance to Fast-Track Digital Economy Innovation
Positioning the country as a frontier for safe, rapid tech advancement, NITDA has inaugurated a Technical Working Group for the National Regulatory Sandbox.
A watershed moment for me and proof that Transformation can come from outside the Government. The National Regulatory Sandbox is an idea that I'm happy that fits this bill. The opportunity for the Tech Ecosystem is immense and I'm proud to serve in the TWG. #ONDI#NESG

@tobyasky Spot ON with your analysis! If you watch the Presser Tuchel gave, he explained all his choices and called everyone who didn't make the Team. That's a solid Coach! The English Press are all 'whining' aka @SkyKaveh about how 'English Players' were left out! Guess Noni isn't ENG?
OUR LAWS AND DEMOCRACY MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL TIMES
The Nigerian Bar Association @NigBarAssoc has closely monitored recent political and legal developments as the nation gradually approaches the 2027 General Elections. These developments, particularly those arising from the interpretation and potential application of provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, raise serious constitutional, democratic, and rule-of-law concerns that require immediate intervention.
We particularly deprecate the disturbing involvement by lawyers and courts in the internal affairs of political parties despite the clear provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026, which stipulates in Section 83 of the Act that “No court in Nigeria shall entertain jurisdiction over any suit or matter pertaining to the internal affairs of a political party.”
Not only are courts denied jurisdiction to entertain any matter pertaining to the internal affairs of a political party, but they are also precluded from granting any interim or interlocutory injunction even where any action has been brought in violation of the Act. The section further provides that “Where such an action is brought in negation of this provision, no interim or interlocutory injunction shall be entertained by the Court, but the Court shall suspend its ruling and deliver it at the stage of final judgment and shall give accelerated hearing to the matter”.
What we now see are situations where actions are not only instituted in Courts by lawyers in clear violation of the Act, but Courts purportedly grant interim and/or interlocutory injunctions in clear contempt of statutory provisions of the law. This does not augur well for our democracy. Democracy will not thrive in a situation where lawyers and courts take actions and decisions that not only negate our laws but also do violence to them. This emerging trend of subverting the clear letters of the Electoral Act and dragging courts into the internal affairs of political parties through disingenuous litigation, forum shopping, and malafide applications designed to secure undemocratic political advantage, bodes no good for our democracy. Such practices, if not immediately curbed, would directly contradict the clear intendment of the Electoral Act and risk transforming the judicial processes into avenues for political score-settling or electoral manipulation.
We must reiterate that these provisions were clearly designed to curb abuse of court processes and discourage forum shopping in political disputes. This is therefore why the NBA is concerned that the abuse, misapplication, or selective deployment of these provisions may create opportunities for manipulation capable of undermining democratic competition and shrinking the political space.
Members of the Bar are reminded that they are Ministers in the Temple of Justice and not political agents seeking judicial endorsement of partisan objectives. The filing of actions intended to draw courts into internal political party disputes, particularly where jurisdiction is expressly excluded, constitutes an abuse of court process and a violation of professional responsibility.
The NBA will take firm steps to deter such conduct. Lawyers who deliberately file actions aimed at procuring judicial interference in intra-party affairs, or who seek ex parte or interlocutory orders in clear violation of statutory provisions, risk facing disciplinary proceedings. We will not hesitate to present petitions before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) against any Legal Practitioner found to be engaging in such conduct. This will be pursued decisively to serve as a deterrent and to preserve the sanctity of the judicial process.
The Nigerian judiciary must stay vigilant and resist being drawn into political theatrics. Courts should firmly decline invitations, no matter how artfully crafted, to intervene in matters the law explicitly bars them from.
A thread 1/2
Rufai vs Mehdi: The Difference Between Confrontation and Conversation.
Rufai is trying to pull both the emotional card and the racial card, claiming that Nigerians praised Mehdi only because he is a white man from the U.S. But that comparison simply does not hold.
First, there was an exchange between Mehdi and Bwala. It was not a one-sided shouting match.
Second, most of Mehdi’s questions were short; between five to ten seconds, which gave Bwala enough room to respond fully.
Third, there was no harsh tone and no shutting anyone down during the conversation.
Fourth, there were moments where both Mehdi and Bwala even shared laughter, which shows the discussion maintained a civil atmosphere.
In Rufai’s case, however, he held the floor for almost two minutes, more focused on displaying how intelligent he was rather than engaging the ambassador. He was confronting someone about an alleged act involving national security yet he claimed to have facts without even stating his sources.
More telling was his body language. Instead of keeping focus on the guest, he kept looking around the studio, seemingly concerned about who was watching him. By contrast, Mehdi, despite having a live audience, kept his gaze fixed on Bwala throughout the interview.
Now imagine if Mehdi had actually shouted Bwala down. Many of the same people defending Rufai would have immediately screamed racism. Yet we rarely acknowledge how prejudiced we can be ourselves in how we judge others.
Unfortunately, among many of us, loudness is often mistaken for intelligence, and shouting is mistaken for boldness.
Let’s be honest: if Rufai had interviewed Bwala the way he handled that ambassador, the conversation would likely have ended in an argument or outright confrontation.
But in Mehdi’s case, it remained a dialogue. Bwala had the opportunity to answer every question. In fact, the only time questions went unanswered was when Bwala himself chose to dodge them or repeat the same line.
So this is not about race.
It is about the difference between a confrontation and a conversation.
🗣️ Nigerians,
Our local governments are quietly getting away with being the “Invisible Tier of Government.” That has to change!
Every month, money flows to 774 of them.
But if we try to answer one simple question: What exactly did they budget for?
In many states, that information is not publicly available online. The government closest to citizens has become the hardest to see.
Our nationwide search shows that in many states, LGA budgets are simply not available anywhere online. Full report coming soon.

@PH_Socials This was painful to watch at the time. All these transpired before my eyes as I was then the Consultant to the RSSDA who built the RSSDA online platforms. RSSDA was the gold standard for real citizen development. Songhai Farming, Scholarship, School renovations, etc. all lost!

If you have an opportunity to serve in government and you are not the ultimate authority, do not make the mistake of thinking that the person that sent you on an errand necessarily wants you to arrive where he sent you. If you do, you’ll leave government bitter.
Put in your best but manage your expectations. Even when your boss is not sincere, do the right things that will make it difficult for him to undo your work but don’t expect that everything will change overnight. Don’t overestimate yourself. No matter who you are, you are just a small cog in a very big wheel. Be humble.
Sometimes, things actually get worse before they get better. It happens like that sometimes. If you want to change institutions (the way things are done in a society), you need to be prepared for the long game.
Don’t go brandishing chainsaws unless you are the Number 1 citizen. Even the Number 1 citizen must still negotiate with the legislature and carry the judiciary along. He also needs to win the hearts and minds of citizens. It is not like private business.
Serving your country is a privilege, not a right. No matter how qualified you are, there is always someone else who can do what you’ve been appointed to do. Again, be humble. If you can’t, go and stand for elections yourself!
