@FacultyofHorror Great episode! One thing I learned a few years ago: there is a version of a Big Foot in the Basque region of Spain (which has similarities with the PNW geography) called the Basajaun

There's a movie called "The Invisible Guardian" where it is a plot point.
@FacultyofHorror I took that as them trying to call that trope (common in Gialli) into question, with how they were blurring the boundary between reality and fiction. Not to say that totally excuses it, it did make me uncomfortable as well. Just thought I'd share my perspective.
@FacultyofHorror The film within a film is basically a by the numbers Giallo film. And Perfect Blue kind of deconstructs the genre. For me that helped contextualize how intense the scene depicting assault was.
@FacultyofHorror really enjoyed your discussion of Perfect Blue. One thing that didn't come up is that this pulled a lot of influence from the Italian Giallo films. They're not for everyone, and have lots problematic stuff, but this film pulls a lot of their best elements.
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But Béatrice Dalle is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let the blood flow, let the blood flow, let the blood flow!
