🇺🇸 SpaceX is making a massive AI bet
Elon says SpaceX is scaling AI compute at a pace he believes no one else can match, with more than 2 GW expected online by the end of this year.
The company could push its cumulative AI compute capacity to nearly 10 GW by the end of next year and has decided to build exclusively on NVIDIA, calling its Vera Rubin platform the best available.
If SpaceX delivers, it could become one of the world's AI superpowers.

ELON MUSK: Grok 5 will train on all SpaceX data, which could make it “by far the best engineer”.
“We’re making rapid progress on Grok because Grok 4.5 was a huge improvement. And we have Grok 4.6 coming out probably next week. And then Grok 4.7 is about three or four weeks from today. And we expect the cadence of AI development to improve dramatically.
“And then, with Grok 5, which should be out before the end of this year, we will be incorporating the entire corpus of SpaceX data. Basically, all the data that SpaceX has ever produced, which is a tremendous amount over the course of a quarter century, will be incorporated into Grok training. And we think this will make Grok by far the best engineer.”

Elon Musk reveals what happens when a rocket launch needs approval from Fish and Wildlife
Elon: "Nonetheless, we were forced to kidnap a seal, strap it to a board, put headphones on the seal and play sonic boom sounds to it to see if it would be distressed."
Elon: "This is an actual thing that happened. This is actually real. I have pictures."
Before the seal, there was a shark.
Elon: "One of the things that was a bit of a challenge at one point is that they were worried about our rocket hitting a shark."
He asked for the data to calculate the odds. They refused, in case shark hunters got hold of it.
Elon: "Then they said, well, there's another part of Fish and Wildlife that can do this analysis. I'm like, well, why don't you give them the data? They don't, we don't trust them. Like, excuse me, but they're literally in your department."
Then a second agency raised whales.
Elon: "If our rocket does hit a whale, which is extremely unlikely beyond all belief, that whale has some seriously bad luck. It's the least lucky whale ever."
The seal test was for launches out of Vandenberg, where the seal population has been rising for years.
Elon: "So if anything, rocket booms are an aphrodisiac based on the evidence."
Elon: "The amazing part is how calm the seal was. Because if I was a seal, I'd be like, this is the end. They're definitely gonna eat me."
Elon: "Its seal buddies are never gonna believe him that he got strapped to a board and they put headphones on his ears."
They did it twice.
Elon: "I don't think the public is quite aware of the madness that goes on."
Elon Musk just explained why AI and robotics will create an unprecedented explosion in global bandwidth demand
“With the advent of AI and humanoid robotics and, you know, vehicle robotics and just a massive number of robots, the appetite for bandwidth will be much greater than it has been in the past.
If you think of a human consuming, or producing, perhaps a few hundred bits per second of output and actually, the average human is outputting less than one bit per second over the course of a day, which is 86,400 seconds.
Now computers could easily do billions of bits per second continuously over a 24-hour period.
So this is why I would expect the appetite for bandwidth to grow dramatically with the growth of AI and robotics.
And really, I think Starlink is the only thing that can actually service that bandwidth.”
Elon: "In order to make it work with computers, you need to solve real-world AI and vision.
We need cameras and silicon neural nets for self-driving to work in a system designed for eyes and biological neural nets."
